Ok, here's the problem:
I was replacing my front right side marker bulb(the side marker in front of the front wheels) and noticed that the plastic socket was really falling apart. As I put the bulb in I got a big spark, and now neither(right and left) marker lights work or the "green" background light on my dashboard and the lights on my overdrive switch and transmission selector. I'm hoping I just blew a fuse but have no idea. My headlights and foglights still work fine. How to fix this?

Also, does anyone know if they make clear front side marker lenses for the MKII? I figure now that I need to replace them anyway... Well thanks for any help with this. B

Yep, check the fuse for the parking lights. Am betting that this is what crapped out.

AND REPLACE THIS ASAP!!! Am also betting that the tailights are on the same circuit (the tailights, NOT the brakelights, those should be on a different one).

Have seen too many peeps at night driving around w/o their dashlights + think that they are fine & most of the time "they just don't get it", that they also don't have any tailights... Not a good thing, esp if you are on the freeway...

Turns out it was a blown fuse, and yes, my tailights were out too!I replaced it and they work. the only problem is I need a new plastic socket for the right hand side marker. the plastic fell apart when I unscrewed the lense, so there still isn't a light on that side.

Thanks Chris Eng! and everbody else too for the prompt replys.

Does anyone know if they make clear covers(instead of the orange?) for those side lights? I know it's a little ricey but they'll work till I can get replacement stock covers. I really need to get them fixed cause I'm going to be working nights and don't want to be pulled over(yet again) by the speed Nazis here in Fairfax,VA.

Brian,

Re: side markers.

I take it, that you are talking about the front orange markers, correct???

Is it the orange lense that came apart (pretty rare, these things are pretty tough, unless it gets damaged from a impact of sorts).

Or is it the black rectangular rubber piece that the bulb goes into & the orange lense screws into???

If it's the lense, am pretty sure that someone has a spare, or can snag one from the junkyard.

If it's the rectangular rubber piece, then that's another story... The rubber piece is a common item that tends to dry up & crumble after awhile. Both front (left & right) side markers on my MKI were like this & the first time I took the right side one off, it disentegrated in my hands. And this item is near impossible to find in the junkyard, because they are all in the same condition.

New assemblies are still available from Toyota & I did this for both sides. And they don't cost that much, about $23 for each complete assembly.

Have not seen one of these front side marker lense's in clear, so I don't know if they are available.

Again Chris to the rescue! The lights are the front orange markers and the lense itself is ok, I need the black rectangular part with the wiring and bulb socket.

Also, I could use that little piece of black trim (ptype size trim, from the front right wheel flare to the bumper) that the whole assembly screws on top of.
Hmm only $23 bucks you say...from Toyota...Hmmm... You wouldn't happen to know the parts number for them would you?
Thanks again, Brian
