Hi guys! And thank you for existing!

I'm in desperate need of a fuel tank for my dragon. I paid someone via FB for one and he's now ducking and dodging me. Which sucks. My car has been down for 3 months. And the shop is getting tired of having it there. If you can help, please holler. Thanks.

What does the inside of the tank itself look like?
Can you tell exactly where it's leaking? It looks like one of the lines is damaged.
You may not need the entire tank.

Other people have had issues with this line when trying to drop the tank.

Replacing the line.

Replacing the line - 2

The tank could be harder to find than these parts!

Hi guys. Honestly. I'm a bit frustrated. I've talked to the shop handling the repairs for the Supra for options as far as repairing the tank. I've smelled gas since I've gotten this car, and I was under the assumption it was the fuel filter when it kept dying on me at a car show. But when the shop dropped the tank, they saw rust all along the o ring and where those 7 screws are on the tank. They didn't wanna try and remove them as he said it would just ruin the tank. So, replace tank. Now, that's from my mechanic. I'm no mechanic. I've been trying to find a tank for this car. And I knew it would be hard. Just not this hard. The shop mentioned a fuel cell earlier, but I just don't have that kinda cash right now.

I'm at wit's end. Because it seems like I'm running around in circles.

It's not a 2019 Chevy. You can't just 'grab a new tank'. Get the one you have repaired.

I know that. The sarcasm doesn't really help. If I have to repair this tank I'm asking how I could possibly repair that because the shop is very apprehensive about repairing it. Thanks.

Well, it looks like the wet spot is coming from the gas line, not the tank itself.

The connector circled in red looks like gas has been here. Did this happen when you removed the gas line, or was this here all along?
It's really common for the tube circled in green to twist when the gas line is removed and the fitting is stuck on. What kind of shape is the gasket that seals this plate onto the tank in?

Certainly the tank itself could be perforated.

I'll check back on it when I get back to the shop on Tuesday. Thank you. 🤘🏾

A lot of radiator shops also specialise in steel gas tank repair.

I'm located in Chicago. And I'll update as soon as I can. I may have gotten ahold of the person who I was supposed to buy one from originally. If not. Then I will definitely take you up on it.

K... The shipping to anywhere outside of Canada ... has become ridiculously expensive... but another guy told me about a cpl of sites that are a lot cheaper... so I'm going to try one for the 1st time...

I simply cut the lines when I'm taking out a tanks ... so Fuel Sender Unit , Fuel pump & Filler neck are still attached...

BTW ....I know for a fact ... that I bought a Fuel pump fr a Toyota dealer.... & that ALONE ... was $450 ....

Anyway ... LMK if U find something closer to you... as the Shipping will b way less...

Cheers,

Dave. You are amazing for the responses. If I don't get the tank from this guy, I won't have a choice. I'll need all those attached parts. So it wouldn't matter. Lines, the guys can do at the shop. But I'm gonna give my guy one more week. Apparently, he ended up at the hospital which is why he hasn't been contacting me. And that tank is paid for. So I'm gonna give him the benefit of doubt and just see what happens.

But I can't thank you enough for just responding, man. That means a lot to me.

Yo! I appreciate it!! Dave has been awesome but this, I appreciate, too! I'd drive down to STL. I've got a 2000 Camry. It would make the trip. Lol. He's right about shipping costs and whatnot, tho. It's insane.

These kinds of response are why I like forums. You guys keep hope alive.

Yeah I bought it Cheap cuz the body was in really decent shap .. Had to Jump on it... cuz the price was so cheap... but really I bought it initially for a friend of mine who was trying to get a car for under a $1000. which is like finding a Needle in TWO haystacks,,,

I didn't even KNOW what a Camry looked like... as I NEVER look at ANY other cars... other than SUPRAS... or any kind of actual Sports car so I never pay any attention to 99% of the cars out there... I was impressed by how smooth it drove on the Highway...as I drove it home..Then when I got home... I started noticing other Camry's ... but more importantly... I started noticing that like 90% of the TAXI's in my town were Camrys''' & that got my attention... since if ppl who put such High mileage (& need Reliability ) from a car ... well that's the best Endorsement one could ask for really

Anyway, I pulled a whole bunch of parts from it b4 I scrapped the Camry... (both Interior & Exterior) . I was kinda pissed to let the new Lexus Engine go .. but I didn't have a place to store it ... or even time to get it out...

I believe it was a '93 (& was Tan inside & out.) ,, but I'll have to see if I can find some old Ownership or Car Registration papers...

If so.. the Tailights will be different for sure..but there still might be a lot of parts U can Use...

So I'll be in touch...

Cheers
