Okay, I got a NEW clutch master cylinder and slave and a braided steel line. I put everything on and bled it....and STILL the pedal is shitty. I have about 2 inches of play and HAVE to go all the way to the floor to disengage the clutch. I think there may still be some air in the system, but I bled the crap out of the thing. Anybody have any experience with this? Stupid mistakes seen repeated here? Handy tricks to know?

Thanks

Nick

Ummmm......Yeah. There is play in the master cylinder it self. I think there may be some air in the MC. I bled it again with a vac pump and it got better, but still not what I think it should be....

bleed it again maybe?

i know it sounds dumb, but ive had brake systems that you had to bleed 5 or 6 times to get them feeling decent.
i think once there was water in the system, and it just cursed us for about 2 days, trying to figure it out.

alignment of housing

just changed one myself, i had the same problem
in my case i did not tighten the bolts on clutch housing the part that the clutch swings in that is attached to the firewall. the whole housing rocked slightly thus causing a bad engagement while the pedal did go all the way thru its range of motion. i could not figure out wahat was wrong after bleeding the system down, over and over.
the whole setup is a bit of a bitch as it can go out of alignment on and thru the firewall.
i dont know if i explained that well but thats what happened to me !!
