what does a turbo spin at at full spool? i'm talkin the ct26, nothing special here. i wanted to turbocharge my car but have decided to just use the intake side of the turbocharger and make it into a supercharger. i wanted to make it continuously constant with the engine speed vs load to keep a steady boost at all engine speeds but that would require an electric motor. my goal is to get rid of turbolag and have a somewhat steady rpm band. i don't want it to feel like a turbo is kicking in. i hate that feeling. i need to know how fast they spin so i know how big to make the pully. i could belt it to make 2500 rpm at 5k engine or belt it to make 25000rpm at 5k engine. hell i could use a gearbox from a gas remote control car and have it change boost levels on the fly. also i can construct my own fuel system controller if the boost is continuously variable/constant with the load/rpm and i can't if the boost "kicks in". hell why don't i carburate my 5m while i'm at it and bypass all the fuel system crap. lol old school

vacuume advance distributor with cheap electric spark(the one that looks like a coffee can), 4bbl quadrajet carburetor(sitting in my garage), supercharger. forget fuel injection system lol!

or put in a full blown cadillac 500 engine which made 500hp stock and had a max torque rating at 1600rpm. that'd rape the IRS rearend lol! STOCK!

Uhh.. thats why there are no REAL Electric S/C's, and they are driven by a pulley from the crank. Its actually very easily do-able, if you know someone good at fabrication for the mounts.
actually...there are. pontiac and mercedes(?) use them i know pontiac has them i saw them at the dealer waiting for a freind to fill out an application. i guess to help pep up shitty 4 bangers.

Mercedes superchargers are mechanically driven like all the rest. It takes a lot of power to turn a supercharger. 15-20+ hp easily which is a big frickin electric motor (and probably 480V). The only thing electronic is the bypass valve on them. The only factory Pontiac blowers I now of are mechanical (i.e 3800 V6). The Vibe/Matrix TRD one is mechanical as well. Where is that picture of a leaf blower mounted in the intake when you need it

um, theres one "REAL" electric supercharger, and im not even sure it works.

all current factory superchargers are mechanical.

and im pretty sure a caddy 500 wouldnt physically fit in the engine bay... along with the fact it weighs a TON.
why not do a good engine, like an all aluminum 502SS or an ls1 from a vette?
theyd cost less to get up to 500 horses, and they wouldnt kill the cars handling.

or stick with toyota power but if u want a v8 go 1UZ ;) and twin turbo it ;) or stick a blower on it as they are much easierly available ;)

hehehe

well, in order to spin the turbo fast enough, you have to make some sort of a gear reduction drive, like the vortechs have. basically a mini overdrive tranny. also, instead of a ct26, might as well get a big holset that way it wont have to spin as many rpms to provide boost. the problem with holsets is the exhaust housings are too big to use on our cars, but if your scrapping that part anyway, might as well injoy the larger compressor housing and they are cheap.

The only real electric SC I've seen is just for short bursts of power like nitrous. There was an ad in a recent import mag. Looked like it had 4 starter motors powering it. Seems they'll be selling kits for popular apps (ie Civics). I'll try to find a web site for the company.
