I'm getting curious about the POINT SYSTEM on your driving record. I don't care what state your in, I'm sure theyre all very similar. I'm 23, really like to speed and drive hard on my stock 96' AE101 w/177k miles. I pay about a $100 a month on full coverage in Colorado. And very worried about getting the 82 Ptype insured pretty soon here.

I think I have 4 or 2 points left total. The ticket I got today was 70 in a 45, piggy cutting me slack, I was goin 75 actually. Total 6 point reduction, and if I pay in 20 days they'll cut it down to 4 points. I'm thinkin go to court plead no contest, try and do whatever to stay at 0 till I reach 25. And don't you get allot of points back when you hit 25? :?:

Well...

I'm 32 and my rates aren't great. I have no tickets, no accidents ... carrying 100/300 liability with $50 comp and $50 coll - my rate still sucks, and I'm not married (which probably why my rate sucks).

I think I need a new insurance company - paying $500 every 6 months sucks for a 20 year old car.
Geico

"Switch to Geico, you could save 15% or more on car insurance  " Just kidding, too much for young people I've noticed.

(Zank you always make me laugh till I'm almost cryin   )
It also depends on what area you live in. I got quoted 288 in the L.A area and 104 in Bakersfield. BTW this is here In Cali. :whutthef: is up with that :fruit:

My rates never went down when I hit 25, they've only gone up since I've started driving. No tickets, accidents, or claims at least that the insurance company knows about. Did I mention insurance in CA sucks. I've been hit 4 times now (nothing major) and I've always had to suck it up and fix it myself (can't afford to turn it in).

I've had a similar past, 2 accidents from people w/out insurance and had to fix the problem myself cuz all I had was liability. I've been told its highly recommended to have full coverage because of those 35% uninsureds here in Colorado. Which is suppose to be number 4 in the US w highest insurance rates because of no fault policy maybe. Thats just changed to where you can battle it in court and get whoevers at fault now. Supposedly to try and reduce insurance rates :?

But I do think CA tops CO in insurance

what you should of done if an unisured person hits your car, sue them  that should solve the problem
YUP

Your right Zank, I regret that all the time, but I was just a young & stupid high school kid at the time it happened. I've learned now
actually in ca. i believe every infraction (your basic tix)is erased after 3 years, but misdemeanors stay on for either 5 or 7 years (spd 100+ mph, drv susp lic, etc)

<--- Suspended Drivers license waiting for 5 years to go by......two years to go
I know in Oregon, infractions go away after 3 years; don't know about anything more serious. So, did other states also start mandantory sentancing on tickets (ie the judge can't reduce what's there), or is that just a fine Oregon thing?
Washington State is like this also... Infractions go away from your record after 3 years. We're also not on a point system as well.
Feelin better now

I know I'm not the only one with this speed syndrome

Its getting better and I'm treating it. Tryin to stay w/in 10mph of the speed limit. But now I think I cannot get any more speeding tickets.

But I do have 1 rule tho, I never speed in residential areas and especially school zones

Interesting how some states don't have a point system like WA :?
I have full coverage on my cars including uninsured motorist. Its just that turning in an $800 claim is going to cost me several hundred dollars in increased insurance, its just not worth it. Its the same with broken windshields, which I have coverage for. My insurance did get cheaper today on the Supra, I cancelled the policy and I'm not buying any anytime soon either :) .
Deductible

Yeah, I believe my deductible is $500 plus I think your rates go up as well. That why its not worth it to me most of the time. I mean the car would have to be jacked or the engine stolen :crying:

Stephen...you're getting hosed because of the low deductibles on your comp & collision....jack them up to $500 and your rates will go way down.

I'm with Mercury and pay $475-500 total every 6 months for both Supras and the Exploder; no tickets for 5 years and no at-fault accidents (though some idiot made a left turn right in front of me about three years ago and I T-boned him with the Exploder) . I have my house with them (and I'm older than you, too :-| ), which helps - but they'll only give me $3K apiece for the Supras if they get totalled, so I'm looking at possible alternatives for "stated value" coverage on the Supras. FWIW.

Well, good to know that in three years my tickets will go away here in Oregon. I do know that 4 tickets in 24 months is suspended license for 30 days here. (Just got mine back  )

From what I understand, in New York, three tickets and your license is gone. PERIOD.
