Hello all,

Pollution Hoses:
Just wondering if any of the hoses/polution control can be blocked off and will it give the engine more power? If so what hoses should/can be blocked? I currently own a 82 with a 5MGE. I'm in Australia so i can get away with just about anything on the car because we do not have smog tests and so forth.

Injectors:
Also, what is the process for removing and cleaning the injectors. The ones i have are original without being removed and the car has done about 165000 miles?

Thermo Fans:
What are your ideas on thermo fans being installed rather than the fan that is stock? Is it worth the change? and if so are they easy to install?

Thanks for you suggestions/ideas!

Regards

No Cat

I'm currently have the car running a 2.5inch straight through no cat! The car is running on leaded petrol.

I would really appreciate more responses to my questions? Please?

Thanks guys

Hmm,

I have done the fallowing:

-Intake
-cold air duct to feed cold air to the intake (noticed a differance after 60km/h.
-2.5 pipe from the stock y pipe to a turbo mufler.
-Modified AFM (there should be a post on the site somewhere).

This made a very diffinate differance. but as your car is an 82 you are about 20hp less then the later models as that year has lower compression. The best thing to do is to add a turbo for any real power gain and the lower compression motor is perfect for that.

Removing any of the other emmisions stuff will only cause the engine to run poorly.

By Thermo I'm assuming that you mean electric fans. Anytime you take something off that runs off the crank you make a little power. I have a twin fan set up that I like a lot. They actually fasten through the fins and I have a thermostat on them.

Good point, I didn't think about that. Also I have removed my A/C system completely from the car. This will also free up some power as well as help you loose about 70lbs.

Actually the A/C system is only about 40lbs http://www3.sympatico.ca/dean.anderson4 look at the weights and tables

Anyway yes you can remove the egr stuff, easy way is to find the intake plenum off of a 6M motor (no egr) and it is slightly better desined than the 5M's.

Someone on the forum not to long ago asked about electirc fans and such, there was also mention about finding an electric water pump.
