Possible motives for Iraq war

Here is a well written, well referenced articel/essay actually written just prior to the war. The writer has all his references footnoted. I've seen many articles on the net regarding the euro dollar/oil currency theory on the Iraq war and this has to be the best. Its a very interesting perspective on the real motivation behind our war with Iraq. It's a long read, but well worth it.

Here's the link:

It's a copy of the original (it has the original link in it) but it is formatted better than the original, therefore easier to read.

I have read similar articles and it is sickening the way governments manipulate national pride to achieve thier own monetary ends.
End the war now
bring the boys and girls back home
thats some funny shit
:sigh: :crazyeye:

Someone remind me, next time you see me posting in a thread about the war in Iraq, not to post in these threads anymore... If I have to read one more conspiracy theory about the war, I swear I'm gonna go nuts. I guess some people just can't accept the idea that everyone in the world deserves to have the same personal freedoms that we enjoy...

I will say this before I go. If this war is about oil and whatnot... why is it that less than 10% of all the oil the U.S. uses comes from the middle east?

Actually, if you go to the DOE website you'll see that over 30% of crude oil imported comes from middle east, with Saudi Arabia being the top supplier to the US, and Iraq at #5. But aside from that, if you would have actually read the article, it doesn't say that the actual physcial aquisition of oil is the reason.

I offered this up as a different perspective on things. It was one of the better written "conspiracy theories", with actuall references to back up its data (though the thesis is purely conjectural). Many Americans question why we're fighting this war. I'm one of them. I have no idea what the reason is. I'm not against it, because no matter what the motives are, the end result is freedom for the Iraqi folks and an A-hole dictator out of there. However, as many Americans agree, and many UN nations too, the president did not give enough evidence of WMD and AL Queida ties. So that leaves questions as to why we're so anxious to go there. I was just trying to share some info I ran across to those who do have questions. If you believe the president, thats great. But don't be so closed minded that you refute any possible alternative with a "BS" statement or a "heres a brain wave shielding device".

indymedia.org is anti 'machine.'

Whatever 'machine' in the world that is under scrutiny, they slam in articles that are 'well written' only in their ability to sway the uneducated. They do that well tho, unfortunately.

Look back at thier past articles. They are even Anti Christmas :D
By well written I written I meant in the college english class type of way. Not in the fact that its true or not. I've seen a bunch of stuff on the net that follows the line of: this is how it is cause im writing it, and this went beyond that. Right or wrong, who knows. Like I said its a different perspective.
As far as Christmas goes, its a ploy by the Catholic business owning majority and Credit institutions to up sales of goods on credit for their own personal gain....J/K!
Regardless of the motivation I hope it brings freedom and prosperity to the Iraqi people in the long-term much like what the Germans and Japanese have.
