I have my front suspension apart to change my brake disks. While it's apart, I've always noticed that there is a lot of rust on the wheel hub face, the part of the hub that the wheels mount flush to.

What was the original finish of these parts? Were they phosphated, cad plated, anodized, painted, bare steel or?

I can't imagine that you should use paint. It would come off against the inside face of the aluminum wheel and mar the wheel finish.

I don't want to have to remove the spindle bearings. They are in good shape and I'm also lazy.

Help.

honestly i dont know what the origonal finish was, mostlikely bare metal, but hitting them with some fine steel wool to remove the rust should suffice. if its excessive rust maybe hit it with a wire wheel on a dril first then sand with some 400grit to smoth it out perfectly. also, a coat of engine enamel couldnt hurt to prevent rusting.

I think they were cad Plated Cause I remeber seeing that color on my old Deep red supra, the previous owner gave it to me in that condition!
Oh-man now I miss it.
Anyways I think that was the color.
