I (Mike O'Brien) have been in a transaction with Jake Breyck (of Quantum-Auto.com) over the past two months about a w58 to 1UZ transmiussion adapter I was told was in stock and ready to ship out the following monday. The payment was sent on Feb 1st, and now on March 30, I have not had any responce from Jake in 42 days regarding my follow up emails I have sent regarding the money I sent him for my product.

The quotes below denote the email conversations that have been exchanged in full.

I see that there is a 2-6 week waiting period for one of these pieces to be machined. Would you happen to have any available right now?

Thanks,

Awesome ( WOW on the fast reply). I can't seem to figure out how to order through the site. (I can add to cart, but can't seem to check out)

Do you guys do paypal? I can pay imediately through paypal, otherwise will have to wait the 4-5 days to have funds transfered to my checking account.

If you can, could you send an invoice for just the W58 to 1UZ bellhousing adapter with shipping to the following adress:

Mike O'Brien
Blah Blah ST
Donahue IA, 52746

PayPal is [email protected]

Of course, this set still comes with the Howe spacer and bellhousing to transmission hardware?

Thanks so much!

Hey Jake,

I ordered a W58-1UZ trans adapter on the 1st (2/01/2012), and havent seen or heard anything about shippment. Just checking in to make sure everything is moving, as I was told it would ship monday 2/6/2012.

Jake,

I still have no updates on the adapter. I can appreciate that Quantum is a small venture, and probably not your day job. If you need more time for my adapter just let me know. At this stage, it is more important to me to know when I am going to recieve it rather than recieve it right away.

Thanks,

Jake, it has been well over two weeks since your last update telling me no more than a weeks time. I have went against my best judgment, and placed my faith in you by not filing a paypal dispute within my window. Please do not let me regret it.

Jake,

It has been well over a month since you last sent me this email noting me of "no more than a week" for my trans adapter. I am at a loss of words at this point over the "customer service" I am recieving over the $345 I sent to you Feb 1st for a product I have yet to see.

I need to see a tracking number by the end of this buisness week for my product, or I need a full refund.

It would be best for you to make good on this.

Regards,

-Mike O'Brien

Amazing, how when I expressed my willingness to send him $345 of my money, he was able to respond within the hour to me.

I have no idea what my money has gotten me at this point. Although the money is somewhat bothering, the bigger issue is that Jake has completely wasted my time. I am sure many people can appreciate a schedule or plan that is detailed out when doing a major build, and how things can be ruined quickly when that schedule is derailed over a bad transaction.

I am not extremely angry, just entirely taxed and annoyed that I cannot move on with my build due to the false hopes sent by this merchant.

I hope Jake can still make good on this in a timely fashion, by either sending me my product or refunding me in full.

Mike;

this blows big time, and PLEASE believe me I'm NOT looking for praise/thanks/pat on that back here when I say: NOT being a full time job is NOT an excuse to take this long to get back to someone who sent you MANY hundreds of dollars so PLEASE never give someone in that position the benefit of the doubt. To be honest, it's not an excuse for someone who sent you $1.25 either...if you have time to make the sale you have time to follow through.

People like this and myself were not thrust into business by gunpoint, it's a decision we made and if you can't keep up then it's time you close shop, quit your day job or figure out how to run things more efficiently as people work VERY hard to send you money. I'm not just talking out of my ass when I say this, I'm speaking from experience and I hope this is a learning less to you: if you don't get a response fill a paypal dispute next time. If they eventually follow through you can cancel the dispute...this type of services gives all of us vendors a bad name and is totally not acceptable as far as I'm concerned.

doesnt look like your the first person to have time issues with them.

Sometimes I understand working with a machine shop or other shop (im dealing with the same crap right now) but if that is the case..just communicate and everything will be fine. I have found if you just update your customers with a quick " Hey just talked to the machine shop and they are still workin on it, Ill let you know when I know more" your customers are almost always happy, and understand you are waiting on them aswell.

Hope you get this all worked out.

Since you payed with paypal, and if the transaction does't completely fall through, I wouldn't wait to file a complaint and get your money back, since you have all the evidence here and in your email. Hope in the end, it gets settled.

its been over 30 days. i dont think he can file. btw, you can get the solidworks drawing for the a340-w58 adapter, or a340-r154 adapter, or a340-t56 adapter from v-eight.com for like $25 then find a local shop in your area to cut it for you.

Sorry William...gonna plead ignorance here as I hear a lot of people mention that. What can they do that I don't know about, if it's all about giving a company a bad rating how many of us actually check with the BBB before making purchases for our cars? Sorry...NOT busting your chops I actually have been curious about this for some time but never really thought about it/looked into it.

I know I myself had an issue with a company in California, I sent them about $1000 worth of body side molding/rocker molding a few years ago plus paid them $700 to start making molds for them. As with this case once they got the money all I heard back was crickets when I sent emails. I opened a case with the FBI Fraud unit, I have NO idea if the FBI did anything...but coincidentally 2 weeks after I did so my parts were on their way back to me.

the bbb will attempt to contact the vendor to discuss the issue and ask them to resolve it etc... if it isnt resolved, then they get the bad rating. ive seen plenty of bbb reviews were the vendor ended up resolving the issue to prevent the negative rating, this might not happen in this case, but its worth a shot imho. also, i beleive (i could be wrong on this part, its just what ive heard) that if enough negative ratings pop up indicating fraud etc.. that the local police look into it.

Today (March 30, 2012) at 8:17 PM, Jake (Quantum-Auto.com) refunded my original payment in full via Paypal.

Although it is not the way I wish the transaction ended, I am happy he made good on my request to either ship the unit out or refund my order.

Thanks to everyone for the help and support!

-Mike

I'm just glad it is all resolved, and definitely a lesson learned for me.

I've seen that Excessive has had adapters for the 1UZ to W58 (That driftmotion now sells), but I have been weary of using any of their products due to some feedback I have seen around the net. (Quality, not customer service)

Any opinions on excessive's adapters? It's either one of those, or my fallback is to go with TV8's adpater:

http://www.1uzfeswapkit.com/W55565758-manual-transmission-to-xUZFE-adaptor-plate-0000-0012.htm

I have gotten to know the guy who operates TV8 form the lexus V8 boards, and he really seems like a nice guy who delivers a great product with great service. Others have been happy with going through him.
