I have read that the 82 Supra had a drag co-efficent of 0.348, but I also read the in 84 when they changed the front facia it reduced that amount and again in 85 when the changed the wing, but I have been unable to find what cd#'s where the result of these changes. Does anyone know?

A curious Supra owner :)

re: drag coefficient

We'll in one of the magazines I have it quotes the drag of the early MKIIs as 0.35. Therefore I always just assumed that the 85s and 86s were around 0.34. It wouldn't be much better than that, as the front of the cars are the same.

They are not quite the same. The 84-86 had the wrap around signals while the 82-83s didnt. the early signal housing/area is like a cup catching the air causing drag while the later wrap around would allow the air to "spill off" This could count for .01cd at least.

The bottom of the facia's are different to, if you line them up side by side you will see what I mean 82-83 and 84-86.5 look much differnt under the bumper.

Huh, .348 is what they adverstised in 82, I wonder if they never actually put it back in a wind tunnel again and just assumed the design of the 85 wing had better aero.

Anyways thanks all for your input.
