so im installing an 83 sunshade on my 85 got one side down snug went over to the other side snuggin it down and then i hear a snap one of the maine studs that hold the shade to the hatch snaps. FML! are these studs replaceable or is the whole sunshade toast?

They're not replaceable. You could probably "engineer" some way of rigging it, but for the most part it's done.

FML thought so dang it. I was really looking forward to having that sun shade.

Depending on how handy you are, you may be able to drill out the stud and possibly epoxy in another one. No idea if it will hold, but it's worth a shot.

ill try dilling it out maybe find a double stud one i can screw in and epoxy

Yeah, those snaps get pretty brittle, sunbaked with age.
I really like my Toyoshade, but it is a little heavy and puts added strain on the hatch lift supports. It would be sweet in carbon fibre, but I imagine that would be pricey!
Epoxy might work, but the thing does get rattled lots, so it's gotta be tight...good luck!
