Rabid Chimp 62mm Throttle Body Question

1932 Views 17 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  rabidchimp.com
I was looking the 62mm throttle body on Aaron's site and I got to thinking. I don't have my '84 anymore to compare to, but doesn't the '82 throttle body have more vacuum ports than the later model throttle bodies? Thanks.

Hi Chad. I've not compared the two throttle bodies side by side in quite some time, but the vac ports are definitely different. If you would like to get a TB done, please send the unit from your model year Supra(s). Later!

Hi Josh. The turn around time is 3-4 days. I do have a 85 core that I could get done for you. Let me know what you'd like to do bro.

Hey all. I do not believe the TB can be bored to 64mm. Thats a lot of material! Supraii. I can get you a spacer for the throttle body. What material were you looking at?

Chad. You're right, every mm counts. My TB guy has done a good number of these TBs, and has found that 62mm is the most he can go. Maybe I'll send him another TB to toy with, for experimentation purposes. I'll let him know if he toasts it, he does not have to buy it. That might work. Hehehehe.
Supraii. I don't think doing an aluminum spacer will do anything for you (TB and manifold are same material). I don't have a source for getting non-metal materials cut. Realize, that if you do use a spacer, you'll have to modify the stock intake piping.

Supraii. Iam referring to the pipe before the throttle body. That is the part that would need modification should you use a TB spacer.

p.s. Check group buy section for throttle bodies!
