coming home last night from bowling we rolled up to a stoplight. Sitting next to us was a late 80-early 90s white 2 door Cutlass Supreme w/ a Papa Johns pizza sign. Light turned green and we gunned it, not meaning to race the pizza boy, just showing off to our uncle who was riding behind us. Well we noticed the Cutlass was keeping up w/ us so we kept gunning it, we ran head to head neither one of us inching up on the other to 70mph, that's where we backed off.
I just wish I knew some stats on that Cutlass to say if I did well or not ( stats meaning HP and weight )
I'm guessing it was a 3.8, but I dunno the ponies on it in that year and I'm guessing that Cutlass was about the same weight, plus it was an automatic, and stayed right w/ us through every shift

Must be a new promotion- your pizza in 16 seconds or its free. Provided you live a 1/4 mile away. ;)

I almost had one of those, didn't know they had any sort of respecable performance. The one I was looking at would have taken too much money to fix it up for emissions. Glad I ended up with my MKII, anyway. :)

Funny, I just got burned by one of these last night. Ratty looking Cutlass, but the engine sounded good, but a little ricey (I actually noticed the sound first). We both took off from a light and I had a pretty bad launch (I was just stopping when the light changed, and didn't punch it right away). He held about 1/2 car length on me until the top of 2nd were it ended (I was on the way home, and had to turn). Anway, thought I would mention it...

Dude you not kidding about that hard to work on 3.4. I had to put an alternator in a guttlass supreme about a year ago. Man did that suck. The main seal was shot so there was oil all over and I had to drop the rear section of the cradle to get that bastard out. I hated that job. The car she raced might of had a 3.1 in it too. Also the 1990 model year W bodies had a rare 3.1 turbo motor factory. Had a non intercooled setup with a t-25 garrett on it. What a fuckin bomb those were. I think they were produced for like a year or 2? later, matt

no joke, i replaced the alt but called a guy i knew worked at a gm dealership, still a bitch but he said take off the right subframe bolt and loosen the left up about 6 turns or so then unhook the exhaust and pull it out that way, it sucked no doubt about it.

sounds like the advice i got for changing a starter on a northstar caddy...

"loosen pretty much everything attached to the engine, and lift it up about 2-3 inches, that 'should' make things easier"

i closed the hood and told her to take it to the dealership :)
