Re: L Type flares

Hase anyone on this list attempted or successfully installed the
fender flares on a L Type?

If so, what problems were encountered?

Thanks in advance.

I was considering doing this on my RA60 Celica. The problem is that the metalwork under the flares is very different. I'm sure it can be done, there is another dude over here with an SA63 he's done it on...but it would take a fair bit of work. One of the ends is easier than the other, sorry, can't remember which.

yeah the front cause you can swap the fenders :D

Thats what I would do if your serious about it. For the rear you'll have to cut back the lips (which will likely require some welding to stich the skin back to the body) and you'll have to drill a bunch of holes.

I'm sure you can do it pretty easily if you don't mind hacking things up. There are quite a few Celica GTs cruising around town that owners have added flares onto, so it is more than doable.

I researched adding flares to my '84 L-type a while ago. I decided not to do it because I'd have to hack up the fenders.

The sheet metal is cut different on flared versus non-flared cars. on flared cars it's almost jagged-like... so that bolts can be fastened through the fenders to the flares.
