im just in the process of getting a 7m machined that might of had some rod knock, inspection of the bearings did not reveal anything..
do i need to get the rods checked or the crank or both, or if it looks ok
should i be good to go to just replace the bearings?

Do not "just replace the bearings" on a 7m. This will more than likely lead to rod knock right away. Seen it happen too many times to folks. You need to measure all the clearances when assembling the engine, to ensure proper clearance. The 7m seems to be pretty touchy about that.
