Hey guys I'm in the process of retiring from the military in Colorado and am contemplating moving to the Seattle/Tacoma area to settle down and get a job. I was wondering what the job market is looking like up there. I went to allcitys.com and found that unemployment is rather high but that is with information from a few years ago so I was wondering what it was like now. Thanks in advance

Very slowly improving-Unemployment running just under 10%, compared to 13-15% east and south of us. Seeing some sporadic seasonal hiring, but most people looking have resigned themselves to post holiday employment.

One area that is growing jobs are the military bases - Ft Lewis and McChord AFB, both contractor support and civil service -specially if you have a clearance. The Tacoma paper's job listings are here http://www.southsoundcareerbuilder.com/
