I heard someone say that the 5M-E engines don't have an O2 Sensor...can anyone confirm this?

I can confirm NiGHTS that the Aust. Spec Supras are not fitted with the 02 Sensor because in 1983-1985 we still had leaded petrol still avaliable then the introduction of unleaded petrol in mid to late 1986 which most car (made after 85) was fitted specifically for the running unleaded petrol.

As Dave A. said. Australia was fitted with the 5M-E motor which is running at 16Degrees TDC, thus running Leaded petrol.

At the time of the car being imported into Australia we where selling Leaded petrol till 1986.

Anyway the car is not fitted with a O2 sensor and the Cat because they don't mix with Leaded fuels.

Oh and Nights... Don't bother trying to hook up the O2 Senor to the ECU... I got a message from GiantTomato and he stated that the O2 pin in the ECU leads to the dead end with the 5M-E ECUs...

Hey ZZT, I always wondered...is our ECU the one for the 5M-GE or did Aussie MK2's get that changed also?

The ECU in the Oz MA61 is specific to the 5M-E and apparently in the EPC that South Africa got it as well (MA61 powered by a 5M-E) for Autos...

The ECUs are only specifically designed to run the 5M-E but I have heard of people powring 6M & 7M motors as well...
