SOHC Honda engine in a MA61???

Well, here's an interesting story:

So I saw smoke cmonig from under my hood, and it was in the shop for analysis. It appeared to be a bad seal, and given the conditions of the engine and body, would have been terminal. So I go to dinner with my girlfriend & her best friend (plus her friend's husband). They ask "where's your Supra?" and I tell em. Here's where the fun begins. The husband says "you know, I've gotta Honda accord I'll sell ya for 750 bucks".
This is an 80+ accord crap-o-rama, it's been sitting for 2 years, no interior, body shot, and engine (if it did run) was the wussie econo-type. So I say respectfully:
"What?? Are you crazy?? Why would I want a junk heap like that? Going froma Supra to that... I'd rather get something else."
So he goes "Well, it's a fixer upper."
"Duh! If I wanted a fixer upper, I'd stick with my car, fix it, and be better than the accord"
"Well, you could take the engine out and drop it right in your car, it'd probably be really easy"
"That doesn't make any sense! So you want me to take your shitty car, pull the engine, and put it in mine? I'd get a 7M and be better off!"
"Well, the car's fine, it just needs an interior, I'm just trying to get you a deal"
"Well, my car's worth more than 750 now, your's isn't worth that new, and if I need a new car it's gonna be a Toyota Supra or MR2"
"Well, you think you'll ever even find one of those at a reasonable price? Good luck with that. My car will be here when you need it."
"I won't. I'd rather buy a bicycle than have anything to do with it. I'll solve my own problems"

I coulda punched this guy. Complete idiot. And BTW, my car is fine, some oil just leaked outta the drain plug onto the exhaust at high speed. Did find it has a somewhat leaky headgasket tho, but it's fine to drive now. Stupid jerk. Just wanted to vent.

He dosen't know anything about Supras, or probably even hondas. Drives a dodge durango, thinks he's cool. I'm glad my car's fine. If he gets that accord running, I'm going to destroy it in any race... I'd feel a little better 8)

I'm sure it does...don't ALL Hondah motors have the same engine mount patterns as the M series motors :jerkit:...and last thing I read the 5m ecu is campatible with all honda engine. Honda and Toyota did this as a joint venture...just incase anyone wanted to downgrade their supra engine if it blew.
Man, I've been trying to sell off an 82 honda accord with a rebuilt engine and replaced interior. I'd be luckiy to get $350 for it. You wouldn't need the ecu anyways though. I'm pretty sure that the early 80s hondas were all carbeurated (except the mid 80s preludes), no ecu to worry about. I think only electronics in the entire thing have to do with the cruise control. You would literally cut your power in half going to a honda engine in a supra, though. Mine would make 75 hp new in perfect condition. On the bright side the thing is freaking tiny. You could probably fit two of them in a supra engine bay. In my honda the little 4 banger sits sideways, between the wheel wells and there is still room to spare. Plus, parts are practically free at pull-a-part, and except for the fact that the engine is sideways and the hood is doesn't open the way most hoods do (Swings open towards the front), its pretty easy to work on.

I can see the windshield banner now, "Supra (Mk IV style text), powered by Honda" :gotrice:

:bitchsla: for even saying something like that
hmmm, so could I put an Acura Legend V6 motor in my Supra?
Think he's just yankin our chains with that.... The ECU isn't compatable in a MKII with all other toyotas, so why would two competing Japanese Zaibatsus do that? Lose $$$ that way.

By the way, this guy just gets better. My girlfriend just got a house, and he decides that he needs to knock out a wall with a sledgehammer. I came home from class and heard about it... BIG hole in the wall and he just left it. This guy is a total moron.... I told him to never enter that house again, or speak about my car.

Besides, a 4 banger honda isn't even gonna get a Supra uphill. Drops two cylinders and what, 30 HP? A Supra is heavier than an accord...
