spanked a modded Probe and a V8 Camaro!

So Im cruising through town in my fearless Jetta, and a kid in a V6 Probe GT rolls up hard on me. He had RX7 wheels, was sitting pretty low and the car sounded good. As hes riding my ass, I floor it, jump into the next lane and stand on my brakes...he doesnt knwo what to do...aside from slam his brakes and look back at me. We then get next to each other at a light, and he revs. I had the window down, so I asked him if his car was a twin turbo :lol: I told him that a Mazda in Japan had the same TT motor. He asked me if my Jetta is a turbo, and I say no, its n/a. He then asked me if I thought I had a chance against his car in a race. (note, it was a 5 way intersection so the light was long) I said, "I will demolish you in a drag race as well as a highway run." He got all pissed, and we waited for the light to turn. As it turned, He floored it and I just rolled off lightly. The road was taking us to the highway, there were no other turns after the light. So we get to the next light, and he assumes I tried to race him. I humbly said, "yea you got me good man, I thought my car was faster" I then challenged him to a highway run, and a dude in a Fbody pulls up on the other side of the Probe. (it was the Probe dudes friend) We get onto the highway, and he stands on it....I let him get 2 cars ahead then I downshift and floor it. I blew by him in a second, and stood in it hard...with the Fbody ~2 cars behind me. By 145mph, the Probe was LOOONG gone and the FBody was ~4 cars behind me. I then stood on my brakes to let the Probe catch up, and he does a ricer flyby. It was fun.

Probes suck btw.

It depends on whose old Supra we are talking about

Its a 14sec car, hardly fast but still a fun daily beater. Plus, it even pulls me through snow

Noah: Ths is actaully an old story, but after reading that Probe thread I felt the need to post it. Honestly, I like Probes and a friend has a turbo one running 14.0s with next to no mods. It may be ugly, and the build quality may suck, but it def moves nicely and it is a great sleeper

I have love for many cars, and honestly I do not understand why people (in general) are so quick to diss other cars.

The V6 with a Borla exhaust sounds really sweet too. 8)

He still has one... sorta.. its just by proxy. :wink: Its even finally getting alot of the Parts closet added to it finally too

As for Mike's Jetta.. having ridden in it has made me a believer. Its definately quick... quicker, IMO, than its 14 second timeslips imply. Color me impressed with it.

Never said there was anythiong wrong with a 14 second timeslip. But it doesn't feel like a 14 second car... feels quicker even.

What does he have done to it? Is on the boost? His story says otherwise, but lies and bullshit are always spread during a race. I often say to ricers "No way dude, that isn't an intercooler, it's my front mount air filter....".

Me? my car is n/a. So was the Probe, haha. I have an intake, ghetto rigged universal muffler, and some ECU tuning. Suspension and brakes are upgraded too. The Fbody should beaten me, it must have been a dog. I mus tsay, it runs weird now that it is cold....need to get this addressed.

Nick, what does your turbo 2.0 r&d/shop/race car run?

Ran a [email protected] with a 2.5sec 60'. (full interior + stereo system) Which is potentially a 13.76 with that trap speed, slicks, and a 1.8 sec 60'. With the new rebuild, bigger turbo & new custom turbo kit, suspension revamp and some weight reduction, we are aiming at low 11's. The first time was before we had plans to make a racecar out of it. It was just a fun project at first...a fun expensive project. But now...well I guess it still i a fun expensive project, except now we have goals. 8)

btw, how did you run a 14 with those basic mods? A 14.99 is much different than a 14.00. So a high 14 with slicks seems believable depending on what those run stock (I think they are similar to a probe, low 15's). I am not talking down your car, I just don't know the first thing about Jettas, which is why I am asking.

Cool, so it seems my 3200lb Jetta would be a good race against your turbo Probe, before your 'extreme' mods.

So you are saying the car is still in 14.46 trim? Yes, .99 is much different than .00 8)

The motor stock makes 200hp and 195ft lbs. Intake/ECU mods help it a bit. Suspension also helped launching the car. No its not a drag suspension, just a simple Eibach kit, but it really helped me hook it up. Once I get the real exhaust on, Ill have to run it again. I would like to break into the .30s on the stock POS tires.

Another note: turbo a 5mge with bare minimum parts, and you will be right into the 13s. Talk about bang for the buck!!

I drove that Jettta before its mods....I'll have to ride in it again to see if Malloy is blowing smoke.

Hey Mike - you know as well as I do VW's suck. And that you should have gotten a 1.8t.
