Guys i think the starter on my 84 went out. Sometimes when i turn the key it just clicks or you can feel the engine move a little. or it will start and run fine. all day today everythime i try to start it she would not start. my batt. and alt is ok. i took it to my mech. today but i do not think he has looked at it yet. is there anything i can do to check out the starter? any advice would be great. how hard is it to replace this?

Installing a starter itself is usually very easy. Most starters have 2 wires, and 2 bolts and that is it. The trouble comes when the starter is in a hard to get to place. I have never changed the starter on my MkII, but I think it is in a "fun" place to get to. I am sure someone here can give you the full story.

Just remember to disconnect the negetive battery cable before you start, and leave it off until you finish. You can create some nice LARGE blue sparks if you don't (I know this first hand).
