Has anyone swapped an 86+celica 3 spoke leather steering wheel into thier MK2? I found one already removed at the wreckers and it fit on an 85 corrolla OK.. Since the corrolla wheel fits the MK2 that should mean that the celica wheel will fit the MK2...right? They are nice looking with leather and a twin cam logo on the center pad, smaller diameter than the MK2 and three spokes. Only thing is that it has the cruise control buttons built in but I can come up with a solution for that.
Thanks for all responses.

So the 86+ Celica and MK3 Supra have the same steering wheels? I was asking about the celica but if the supra and celica are the same then no problem.
Thanks 8)

I think mk3 wheels take some work to make work. Any wheel that bolts into an AE86 will bolt into a mk2, just pay attention to the distance they stick out from the column. The GTS wheel sticks out over an inch further then the mk2 wheel. If its too far it makes it hard to flick the signal on with two hands on the wheel

Good Point...Thanks :) It slid onto the steering shaft in the AE86 like butter :D I think I will go back and get it.

It's not too bad if you have more clearance between the levers and the steering wheel, it's bad when you have very little between the two. I have a Formuling steering wheel on my toyota, and with about an inch between it and the turn signal, even after 10 years of driving it like this I still find myself bumping a signal on or hitting the wipers once in a while... Just my own 2 pennies!

Certain MKIII steering wheels will need a adapter to fit on a MKII. We know for sure that the 89 wheel needs one. Not sure about the 86.5 - 88 wheels. James Razor (Supra GTR) can explain this better. The main problem w/ the earlier MKIII wheels is color matchup. If you have either Blue or Maroon interiors, then you're fine. The other 2 colors for these 3 years were Gray & Beige. First year for Black in a MKIII was 89...

Each steering wheel is mounted on a spline with a certain diameter and number of teeth. To make sure you can remove and replace the wheel you should get ones to match. Getting them close and then hammering them on the rest of the way will only damage your splines. But hey.. its your car not mine. :(

Here is what steering wheel fits the mk2:

o -86 Camry
o 82-85 Celica
o 84-88 Corolla
o -87 FX16
o 83-89 MR2
o 85-87 Pickup 4WD
o -89 4Runner
o 82 Tercell 4WD

o 85-88 Chevy Nova

This is basically according to an application guide with every vehicle with the same part number.

very little work, you have to get the turn signal cancellation and horn ring fitted correctly, otherwise, it's a direct fit. IIRC it's about the same distance from the stalks as the mkII steering wheel.
