Hello all,

Just joined the club today.

I'm currently looking into purchasing a Supra MKII. Since these cars are getting pretty rare nowadays, my main concerns are how accessible are parts? Currently based in the UK, I'm struggling to find places to sources parts for the vehicle.

Can anyone shed any light on the matter?

Thanks in advance

In the US aftermarket maintenance parts aren't too bad. Pretty much nothing is available from Toyota anymore. Anything cosmetic or non-maintenance you're pretty much limited to what used parts you can find.

In this country many mechanical parts for the engine and drive train are still available due to being common to several Toyota models. Replacement body parts are getting scarce, but there are vendors who are making repro parts, and others that have certain things in the planning stages. There is a recent thread where someone is trying to determine if the demand is there for repro side molding for instance. The search function can also reveal vendors who sell after market parts such as our friends at Raptor Racing. This forum has a section For Sale for those cleaning out the garage or parting out a car. Parts show up on ebay occasionally as well. You may have to be willing to have items shipped from the states. I am restoring an MGB and on occasion source parts from the U.K. because they are on BO from the U.S. suppliers, and I can get them sooner from the U.K.! So, finding parts is getting more difficult but is not impossible. Look at it this way, the searching and finally finding something is part of the charm of owning a classic!

Hope you pull the trigger on the purchase and join us soon.

You're going to want to join the Ma61-UK group on Facebook for a better idea on parts availability over there. The UK has one of the least amount of these cars left so , it'll be hard getting replacement parts

That's good advice Tanya, you're fortunate to have so many stunning examples over in the U.S. It took me 3 years to find a reconditioned fuel tank, but worth the wait as our Supras are just so stunning to look at, you never get tired of it. UK Supras are going up in value fast, they can vary from £8000 to £30,000 for a decent one, but they don't come up often. There are a couple on sale at the moment. If you look on Celica Club UK.

The rule of thumb, even here in the U.S., is you should purchase one that you are going to be happy with the condition its in now. Do not buy one in poor to mediocre condition with the idea of restoring it or it'll become one of those three-year planned restorations that turn into ten or fifteen years or maybe never finished. If you can't afford an excellent condition Supra to start with, at least get one that's in pretty decent shape, that you'll enjoy driving it as is while you circle with the rest of us vultures waiting for the opportunity to buy good used parts.

kbox.ca once supplied the trim for the wheel well flares and a gasket set for the taililghts, but I do not see any MKII parts on their site anymore. Anyone tried to order from them recently?

Hi,

I've been using T C B Performance Parts Limited down in Cornwall for many years, they specialised in breaking MK2's back in the days when there were many around and are still worth contacting to see if they have what you want.

Their website is HERE

Thank you very much, I believe I have purchased from them in the past (when I had a MR2).
Received this email from Kbox.com this morning. They are out of stock on the MK II wheel flare trim and tail light gaskets, but are in the process of replenishing the supply. Hopefully will be available again at some point.

Hi Bob,

We are currently in the process of making more. I will let you know as soon as they become available.

Best regards,

Jody Collicutt
