Ok, my car didn't come with an owners manuel. I have an automatic 85. The center counsel has three switches, one operates the rear wiper, one is the ECT switch, but what is the third one for?? I hit it, but don't see anykind of change in the car.

Ok, thanx, i thought thats what it might be, but someone previos to me had the foglights hooked up all wrong, spliced into the headlights and stuff. Well, now i know what to use for a switch when i rewire them.

The fog lights that are stock came that way, by law they must be wired in the head light circuit. They only come on with the headlamps but go off with the brights on...due to highway laws.

If you would like to re-wire them there are directions in the FAQ section of celicasupra.com. I suggest check there to wire them to your liking.

Yeah, i know about the whole only 4 front shining beams thing. My lights had been rewired since the factory, the power wire was just shoved in with the headlight fuse, so when the brights came on, the headlights came on.

D'oh! All this time I thought it was to operate the Flux Capacitor. :(
You would need 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to get that to work. And our alternators can barely power our stock stereo's.

Hmmm....I thought Doc Browns' specs. called for 1.21 Jigawatts. :) The MKIV alternator should be good for at least 1 Terawatt. (just kidding) Maybe the switch is connected to a hidden biomass converter inside the gas tank. 8)

I was about to make a new thread for this question, but it seems to fit here well enough.

My foglight switch doesn't do anything. When I turn on my headlights (low beams) my foglights sort of come on
This is the foglight: |_________|
_______________________| ^ | only the part between the lines here produces any light (this is the right side light, the left side is reversed).
Flicking the foglight switch has no effect.
For clarity's sake, I am not talking about the side markers, the clear things in the front do this.

(edit: the messageboard doesn't like my ASCII, replaced spaces with _s)
(edit again: found this on Opti's page, this is what it looks like when my headlights are up http://www.helges.net/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=37 This makes me think that this is normal and I am asking stupid questions again  )

Yup, that is normal. The edge bulbs come on with the parking lights. If you do NOT get th fogs to come on with the headlights on low beam, you have a foglight issue. They go off with high beam activated. Once you have them working, definately check out the fog light rewire on the FAQ or home page. Looks cool with them on while the headlight are down and off.

Get H3 bulbs for the fog lights and use amber 194s in the running lights to match the turn signals. Looks cool!!

Good Idea AJ.........Heres a Question.......Say eventually I wanted to put a few more fog lights in the front.....and I also have the Hella H4's from rallylights.com. With these light upgrades and stock fog lights on it puts a noticable drain on the battery. So.....is it possible to hook up another battery to the system???????? To power more aftermarket fog lights????
