The absolute most powerful engine

Just for kicks, what do you suppose is the absolute largest/most powerful engine you could possibly fit in a MKII? Money set aside, and not considering rear-end exploding, ect.

the twin turbo V8 used on the GT1 cars makes about 1000hp on Gran turismo
Now the problem is drivetrain....
Damn, would cost just WAY too much :)
that is why there is always room on the back to make it a MR engine configuration or get a tranny strong enough to hold that much power and a custom bellhousing... and also for rear ends... what a ford 9" can't fix (I know I am gonna get flamed for this ford thing  )
Twin-turbo 1GZFE would be a tight fit...but hey, you've HAVE to be able to make it work. Screw Ford 9" diff, jimmy up something from a Hilux and/or Mk4.
An MR mk2? That would be nice, but wouldnt that throw your weight balance way off? From what I understand, they are pretty close to 50/50 as front engine?

There is a brand new never installed 6 speed for a MK4 on Ebay right now for 4600US  That would be a good start.

get a McLaren F1 and strip out the body and put the body parts of the mk2
okay okay.... why still custom if you can get RUSS M. supra engine then where talking aobut bolt on engine with no modification
No disrespect to Russ' engines, but what you just said is like, why have a twin-turbo 1UZFE or something making 1000hp when you can have a lesser powered 6MGTE because it bolts straight in...
Yeah I was just being a little off the line there... I knwo I said about the TT V8....
Most powerful you could fit in an MKII? No holds barred, money no option, I see no reason why you couldn't stick one of these in there:

GM ZZ572 big block. N/A, 720 horsepower. Slap a big old supercharger on there, like a Weiand 1471, drop the compression (it's 12:1 stock) and you could be pushing 1500 horsepower pretty easy. You may need to do some "modification" to the hood, and build a pretty beefy front subframe, etc, but there's no reason it could not be done.

bah, all those engines are childs play. You said absolute largest/most powerful engine... if money were no object and not considering the rear of the MKII exploding (k well most likely all of it)... what you need is...

GE Aircraft Engines largest most powerful jet engine in the world! The GE90-115B which is estimated to put out over 115,000 pounds (511 kN) of thrust. Which is possibly in the incredible range of 250,000-300,000hp!!! or more!!!

Strap this bad boy on top of your supra and you don't even need to worry about your drivetrain, shoot, you don't even need to worry about turning, or even getting to where you want to go as you won't be around to worry about it! hahaha

nah, but for something that's actually doable with and incredibly massive bank account I'm sure you could possibly stretch and modify your MKII to stick a westinghouse J34 turbojet engine in there. Those are in the range of 6,000-20,000hp depending on afterburners. Estimate cost of just the engine being anywhere from 75k on up. though you could go 0-100 in one second like this guy...

im sure an F1 engine could be shoehorned into a MKII and IIRC, without a restrictor plate, those things make in the range of 1100 horses.

toss a turbo or two on there at low boost, just to bump efficiency and youve gotta have 1400+ horsepower.

hmm, other than that, lemme find a link...

even though its a marine engine, one of those would be fun too, and they look remotely compact.
1400-1600 on premium gas, and 2000 horses for race versions :D

hmm, i know ive got links to stupidly powerful engines around here, but i cant find them :?

You could run this on straight Methanol....if you dare! Just kidding!! Big engines and huge amounts of horsepower cost big$$$. There's just no such thing as a "budget build" when it comes to making a lot of power. How about a Ferrari V-12?

oh come on people! This is a supra forum! Most potenial engine for a SUPRA engine will always be a 2JZGTE! If you had the rear end to take it the sky is the limit with these things, why even think of putting something else in if you dream of 1000hp? :D
need I say more...

I don't know man, not the greatest for the 50/50 weight ratio thing

Thats hilarious! Nice one
There's a 1JZ up for sale on ebay, not sure about a 2JZ?
Good god man! I used to work at PSD - Propulsion Systems Divsion when I started at Boeing, where that photo was taken! Heh, that remids me of the all cameras and recording devices are banned from Boeing property rule. Of course that's a legit Boeing release.
