I installed a newer cylinder head in the spring for one that was barely shaved to keep compression as low as possible for a turbo upgrade...well, I adjusted the distributor with an inductive timing light till i found the crank mark and lined it up to ~ 13 degrees advance..( and had turned it almost fully clockwise- 5mge)

It bogged alot.barely made 4.5k on the tach ..ran like shit since then

I thought I couldnt tune this Split Sec signal conditioner, but instead found out it was me.

yesterday while stopping many times on I95 --- I started to pull back on the advance..a little better.. hmm. turn it Counter Clockwise a little more.. better still,..eventually i ended up turning it almost the full movement that adjustment slot would allow (C.C.) and now I am peeling out, laying rubber like crazy..hauling pretty good ass!! and I dont hear any pinging or knocking..

But when I got home and hooked up the timing light, and used the jumper to disable the advance i dont see a mark anywhere.

I am stumped.. and have no idea where the timing is set.
what could be happenning?
Which direction does the rotor button turn?

Found the problem, the whole harmonic balancer fell off, lost the big bolt.

Lucky I have a parts car, Looks like I may take this opportunity to convert the alternator from dual v-belt to a serpentine.

I sure hope the crank is ok!!
