Well as some of you know I picked up a 94 6sp back in March. It's been a dream of mine to own a MKIV since the first time I laid eyes on one back in 93. Some guys want a Lambo and some guys want a Vette ,,, i've ALWAYS wanted a MKIV Supra. They are very rare in Canada and even more so on the East coast. i've only ever seen one in Nfld . That was a NA ,stock and beat to shit edition.
I purchased the car from a fella in Toronto . I then drove the car 1381 miles home :) I was extremely lucky to get such good weather in March . It was raining in Toronto but only in Toronto. It was then clear and warm with clean pavement all the way back . It really gave me the time I needed to get familier with the car . I fell in love somewhere in Quebec LOL . This turbo setup is amazing ,, it's a street beast and highway locomotive !! Makes 19psi at 3500rpm and lights up the 315's like they were made of butter. It's a rush compared to the 1J ,,, that gives you time to brace for whats coming ,, This fker just screams off idle and doesn't let up . Hard on tires but very rewarding lol . Anyway since I got the car i've been upgrading and restoring everything. Here's a little peek at some of the work completed and some details on the car ...

The mod list: all parts marked (NEW ) have been added since I purchased the car.

OEM Window control panel
XD-16 WB gauge ( NEW )
AEM Boost gauge ( NEW )
a piller pod ( NEW )

It was in excellent condition when I got it ,, apart from some paint damage and overall dirty appearance.

some progress pics .

The roof section between the targa top and hatch had some damage, as did the front bumper :(
All repaired, painted , cleared and cut and buffed . I had to clear the entire rear 1/4's to blend properly . It came out great so it was worth the extra effort.

rock damage and old 93-96 turn signals

All painted and fresh with 97-98 Turns signals and white leds

The dash panels looked like 16 yr old panels.

All new oem with rings from the UK . The xd-16 and AEM boost gauge can also be seen here . Nice match for lighting ,visibility and seem very accurate when comparing against the MAP ecu ,, I like !

The GP-O Evolutions were chipped and had some light curb rash on a couple . They are discontinued from SSR and very rare so I wanted bring them back to life. I also decided I wanted a change from the silver center so I went with black after much debate . I was thinking about a few different options but Black just made sense for now. I am missing two center caps so I punched out 2 pieces of aluminum and polished them up for now . I have been in contact with a SSR rep who is trying to get me 4 new caps. Hope that happens but until then I like having something there lol .

before

and after

Next was deleting that god damn prop rod that holds up the hood. I must have hit that fker 20 times in the first month . Brackets from a memebr on SF and dampers from Strongarm.

fixed :)

now for the engine bay ,,,, not too bad but very dirty :eekfacepalm:

all clean and a few things added :naughty:

Dyno ? Boost controller issues forced him to stop here.
16psi on 91oct. I'm currently running 19psi

Well I think that just about covers it for now . I'll update as the upgrades take place ,, cams ,gears, meth , injectors and more boost are on the menu for later this summer .

It was worth the wait !! I've had 26 Toyota's since 1988 :eekfacepalm:

I need to get some better pics :(

Damn, that is an awesome car and you've done a lot of great and tasteful work to it. It must be really nice to be able to afford all that stuff. Can I ask what you do for a living because I think I might want to do that too.

Buy low , sell High LOL ! The wife and I both work 50-70hrs per week and we own our own home. I don't drink much , I don't gamble , not into Harley's and I don't like boats. I also do 90% of my own work :)

Thanks for the comments !!

Very nice. I've loved these since 93 too. Hell, they're what got me into mk2s in the first place!

Don't tell the Americans we can buy JDM imported TTs for 15grand now :p

Damn, she's a beauty. There's something about an all black MKIV with the standout polished lip. Beautiful touch!
Your right about finding an MKIV (not disgustingly overpriced) on the east coast.

Not sure about the JDM RHD tho, there's a couple '94's for sale locally for around 10K.... Yota's ride gotta be the nicest I've seen on the East Coast (of Canada)

Nice MKIV Bruce. I had been looking around for one before I bought my Cobra last year, just couldnt find one matching my criteria ( low miles, original paint) in a dcent price range. There are 3 TT's that I know of in St. john's( 2 jap imports and one North American)

Sweet ride Bruce...love the improvements. Your car makes me want to start shopping for another...but alas I think I'll wait a couple of years before buying another MkIV. I'm not done with the 'resto' on my car yet. :zzzzz:

Thanks for all the kind words guys :)

Your 2J swap is outstanding Mark ,,hope you realize they are never finished LOL

In my search for the right car I saw so many overdone with body kits and half assed builds with shady work . Loads of US cars with 1000miles on a fresh rebuilt engine,,only ran twice LOL. That shit just scares me away. Then you see a few stock , original paint 60K gems for 25K. Great car , great price ,, and a great deal of money and work before it's the Supra i've always wanted . I'm just not into another all Fedex build right now. It was by far the most frustrating part of building the mKII. I would get halfway through a piece of the puzzle then have to order a part and wait 3 weeks + before I could finish what I started. It was a stress test I wanted to avoid with this car .This car was built with quality parts and some very nice custom work ( seats, sound system, NEW gt35r setup ) that made it stand out for me . That and the fact that it was in Canada. Too many horror stories from guys trying to import modified cars. Yes I know ,,, never claim it's modified. Well if you google it you will see some of these customs guys actually know cars and with my luck that's the guy I would get . Not worth the risk of being turned around at the border with a car I can't import.

Last week I had the appraisal done on the car . I can't believe how much these things are worth in Canada. It seems the price difference between US and Canada back in the day is still evident in the appraised value today. You have to remember what our dollar was worth back in 94 . We paid almost 30% more just on the dollar, not including our higher MSRP. I guess he took all this into consideration when he did the appraisal. The car is now insured and appraised for way more than I paid for it. When he gave me the paperwork my jaw droped,, then the first thing popped in my mind was ,,, I could buy 2 in the US for that  That quickly left my mind when I looked at mine in the garage and realized how nice it is to know that i'm covered in case something unfortunate should happen. He also warned me against getting the MKII appraised again. He said if I do, it might come under the custom catagory with all the new mods. I would lose my $75 reg fee/ yr and the cheap Antique 135/ yr insurance. So I left that as is LOL Full coverage on the MKIV based on apprasial came to $345.00/ yr :)

I was NOT interested in a JDM MKIV dispite the junkyard pricing. I don't like driving a rhd car at all . A friend has a rhd Honda and drving that was enough to give me the idea . I hated it ! To be honest most of the Supra's I've seen up close from importers were worth exactly what they wanted for them. So it was LHD or nothing :)

I'll update as I go ,,,, thanks again for the comments !

The Black centers are really growing on me. I wasn't sure i'd like it but I think it suits the car :)
