I am unable to resist a run at the lights. With my old 5me (once I fitted the K&N and intake pipe) I could generally do any warm 4cylinder and the occasional old 6.
Since I got the 6mge with headers only new v8's can (just) give me a spanking. Only the turbo 4's give me any grief.
The young fellas here drive Ford Falcons (4.0 OHC straight 6) or GM Commodores (3.8 V6) I have no trouble at all once I peak in second and slingshot past, they get very upset, especially when they find out it is an auto.
It may have something to do with the 30k they spent for a new "warmed up" family car and getting done by a 20 year old 5k car that looks better and goes faster.

Arn't Commodor's 5.7L V8's I see them enough in V8 Supercars on Speed Channel. Im pretty sure its what the new Pontiac GTO is 98% based on, with minor body trim changes.

The 5.7L Monaro or GTO is based on the family car the Holden Commodore. The 4 door Family Commodore gets a 3.8L v6 based on the old Buik lump. Some people like to think they go fast if you add a rear spoiler and wide tyres. You can get a shit load of after market stuff for them though. You can just about build a V8 Supercar at home.

Hehe go ant :)

To clarify the V8supercars still run primitive pushrod 5L engines!

The LS1 was only just released in the commodores here, even though commodres are a GM based car the best comparison would be a mustang, EVERYONE has one!

All the young guns have older 5L engines which are nothing special 180kw from 5L in a 1600kg (3520lb) car muhahahaha

And yes the pontiac GTO is infact a direct ripoff of our monaro GTO hahaha yanks finally stole something from us!

I too enjoy toasted the 3.8L boys hahaha and the occasional stock v8 :)

if you boys wanna see what GM oz does check out www.hsv.com.au some nice looking cars :)

king of the 6 cylinders

:D Well I have been very curious about the new BA Ford Falcon. 4.0 24 valve DOHC.
No longer curious.....
 I pulled up at the lights next to a hotshot car dealer with a City Ford official promo car, he wanted a go, by third gear I was more than a car length ahead. I think the poor bastard was shocked and dissapointed.
next!

PS are SSS Nissan pulsars supposed to be quick? I have taken 3 now. I thought the power to weigth ratio should make them pretty quick?? :?:

Don't knock the pushrod engines too much, the LS1 is pushrod.
So is the LS6, 426hp stock.

Show me a 'cammer that outruns a Top Fuel railer, before you call pushrods primitive

Thats only the super top of the line cars. They have oodles of lesser model cars that are very popular in Aus. Monaros, Commodors, the hideously ugly Senator. Lots of older Falcons with those 5.0's, they also had the LT4 for a long time in the top of the line Commodore before they got the LS1.

Nice run, kiddies with family sedans.. like kiddies with Civics!
