looks like supra history just took a little nosedive:
oh dear... what's this? an L-type? with a 3.73 LSD STOCK!!??!?!?! OH NOES!
seriously, what the hell? this just throws another hockeystick in the tricycle wheel. I don't get it. discuss this please, any ideas? ANYWAYS:
HOLY SHIT MKII's KICK ASS!!!!!!!! I've never, ever driven one before and... wow, what a fun little time I had. Of course, the open exhaust and MASSIVE backfiring on decelleration made it that much cooler.
This one has a few issues that need to be worked out, namely:
-oil change - asap
-coolant change - post asap
-has very bad valve tap/clicking all the time. i dont' like it one bit. needs to be fixed... could be expensive.
-also burns oil excessively above 5000rpm. This is due to blow by as a result of improperly worn-in piston rings when the engine was rebuilt a few years ago. problem is... there was a metric shit-ton of work done to it... and the papers for it are all very confusing. I absolutely MUST go find the guy who did the work and figure out what's going on with it. Nearest I can tell... it could be stock except for the pacesetter header, or it could be a 6m-ge... i don't know. it could also be anything in between. one thing's for sure... it doesn't feel like 190hp... but then burying the 140km/h speedo seemed a bit too easy to do, so my judgement could be off. This repair will be expensive... engine will PROBABLY have to be pulled... new rings and the like. not going to worry about this for a while. simple solution -> stay below 5000rpms and it's happy. too bad there's a lot of power in that last 1500rpms
that's enough talking... on with the pictures!!!!
H4 headlights from parts car supra... INSTALLED. p-type leather seats... INSTALLED.
the first of many rally-related stickers. hehe.
odds are it's going to be nice tomorrow, so if i have the camera i'll grab some more good pics. the wax job on it is simply stunning how good it is. the car looks mint except for the rear passenger side.. but who cares! the inside is PERFECT. of course, it doesn't start yet... so we had to push start it several times today, but tahts' fine. starter swap is coming soon.
