I had a set of 225/60 Goodyear Eagles that were great tires. The shop put balance weights on the inside only, and the car drove perfectly. When they wore out they were replaced with a set of 225/60 Cooper Cobras. Only complaint is that with balance weights only on the inside, the car was undrivable. Had to go back to the shop and get them rebalanced with weights on the inside and outside. Don't think that they are made to as close a tolerance as the Goodyears, but Goodyear doesn't make the size anymore. I once heard that 225/60's were available from Avon in England, but I would expect that they would be VERY expensive.

Yesterday, on my way home, it was raining like the Apocalypse was upon us. Now, I'm not one to horse around unless I'm pretty sure that it's safe, and in this case, it wasn't. However, I'll admit, I was following too close to the car in front of me. Little black Fox-Body mustang. I'm roughly 4 car lengths back when he whips the steering wheel and is instantly in the carpool lane. What's left in front of me is STOPPED TRAFFIC. I almost $hit myself. I never saw it coming.

Now, a couple weeks ago, I dug deep and threw on new shoes. Big, wide, meaty BFGoodrich Radial T/A's. 235's up front and 245's in the rear. They're the biggest meats I could find for stock rims. And, i'm a BFGoodrich nut. I've run these before, I have BFGoodrich on my truck, and I'm loyal.

Anyways, I jumped on the brakes, the tires clawed into the pavement and I stopped short of the traffic. Had there been anyone behind me, they wouldn't have been so lucky. I got fortunate yesterday.

Point is... These freak'n tires ROCK! I highly recommend them. I don't know what people have against BFG's, but these are damn good tires, and (woah) they fill the fenders sooooo nice..

I bought them online, had them shipped to the store of my choice, and they mounted them up. I'm into the set for a little over 500, but now it's worth it. After all the work I've recently done, these tires saved me from throwing it all away.

The thing everyone has against the BFG's is the "S" rating. The sidewalls are softer than what the Supra originally came with, "H" rated tires. Because of this, handling is compromised for a more supple ride.

I also had a set of the 225 BFG's on my black 83 thirteen years ago, and they looked great on my P-type wheels with the cast areas painted Boyd's plum purple.

I just got some new BFG's in 225-60R14 a few weeks ago to replace my Yokohama AVID's. The BFG's are fine tires. They corner well and are smooth riding. I was afraid because of some of the negative things I've read here. I am very pleased with the tires.

for the heck of it i searched the stock tire specs in google (225/60r14 94h) and found that it seems only two tires in the entire world are under productions for these specifications according to the official tire manufacturing websites.

The Toyo Teo plus in Thailand

note:it also comes in 235/60

and the Sumitomo HTR 4 in Australia

Looking for new tires to fit my stock rims, looking at either 225/60/14 BFGoodrich, Or Grand Prix Performance GT in a 235/60/14. I know there isn't much (if anything) else available. I don't believe you can find the Federals anymore, however I prefer the white lettering on the outside. Any personal input is much appreciated guys. You can PM me as well.

I decided to go with the Grand Prix Performance Gt's. BFGoodrich are good for straight line performance. And since the Supra is a little more of a GT car I decided to get the Grand Prix GT's. A local forum member here has them and loves them. I hope I can still get tires when I need to replace this set. I will post again after a week of driving with my opinion. They get mounted tomorrow. Currently I have the Grand Am Radial GT's (Came with the car when I got it) And they are crap.

Those are the same tires, made by the same company (Cooper), with only slight differences. If you hate them with Grand Am written on the side, I doubt you will like them any better with Grand Prix written on them. The BFG's are definitely better.

I'm still finding tires on Craigslist now and then. I just bought a pair of used Kelly Chargers 3/4 tread for $50 (H rated!) last weekend, in the factory size. I also just bought (in 2 separate transactions) a pair of T-rated 215/60R14 new tires for $75. That's $125 for a staggered set of 14" tires that aren't the soft "S-rated" like the BFG's are. Now if I could just get enough time to refinish a couple sets of P-type rims...

I also have a whole matching set of 225/60R14 Ultra Radial GT tires that were mounted and slightly used (guy didn't like the fit of that size on his muscle car) that I got for $180. I also have 4 mismatched but new 235/60R14 tires that I paid $150 for (3 were old stock from a Firestone dealer). I've been hoarding tires away since finding out our tire size was being phazed out of production. I probably have more than enough now, since I want to 5 lug swap one Supra and have some 15" and 16" wheels and tires for it already. Just keep an eye out in the junkyards and online, and you can still find the deals. :)
