Hey everyone...
So as some of you may remember me, I have an '84 L-type (bring it malloy  ), currently with about 146k miles.
Last year I thought I blew the HG. White smoke out the exhaust, blue smoke from the manifold, which was caused by oil dripping from the head, the works. Also, my valve seals were shot.
This week I finally got around to pulling the head. The verdict? the HG looks pretty good -- no issues that would cause the symptoms I described.
My next thought is that the head is warped. When I pulled out the head bolts, in 3 passes over the appropriate pattern given by the Holy Green Book, some of them were noticably looser than the others. I know the car was overheated before I got it, 2 or 3 times. I'm afraid that this may have warped the head, causing this unevenness in the bolts, and allowed coolant to leak into the cylinders.
Thoughts?
If anyone's interested, I've posted pics of my tear-down process. Don't laugh at my cam bolt removal "SST"... I needed to get that off and didn't want to buy another tool.

Oh yeah did I mention my power steering rack's shot too? That won't be replaced until I know if the head's salvageable or not.
See ya,
