ok so im wondering here. i seem to have very high hydrocarbons. and i heard thats from having too lean of a mixture. so my question is, how would i go about richening up the mixture? cooler thermostat? (got one in my room) or... (insert suggestions here, note i live in smog-nazi california so i dont quite want to modify my AFM)

if it's really lean that could do it too. i wouldnt rule anything out. but yeah you might not want to just figure out ways to richen up the mixture... something is wrong and you might want to find out what it is.

what were your CO numbers like? that might help find the problem. high CO #s higher than usual will suggest that you're actually running rich. otherwise you're probably running lean or misfiring or not getting a good spark or something.

check plugs, wires, air filter, cap and rotor, timing...

are you burning any oil?

im burning oil like the iraqi's. and i have a small SMALL misfire, but i believe thats due to the exhaust leaking from my catalytic convertor. it causes flux's in the backpressure. and yea its basically stock other than a cone air filter. but it was too lean even with the stock air box. btw my CO's and NOx are at normal levels, just my HC's were high

yup yup. do what i did. the only way i was able to patch an exhaust hole was to take galvenized steel 5x7 sheets and clamp them to the leak. best i could do w/out welding and i've passed emissions twice since then.
