Just complete a 5mgte project with 295 injectors......My baby is running pig rich and I have my afc.....at -50% across the board both on low throttle and high throttle but she is still running pig rich.....how can I lean er out some more at throttle.....what am I doing wrong here?.....I have factory temp denso plugs, do I need to step up to a hotter plug?

You have to rotate your AFM gear clockwise. I just did the same upgrade. I dont have my SAFCII hooked up yet but I am at 10 teeth clockwise (tighter) and it is still really rich. PLEASE be carefull and have it on a dyno. My appointment is a week from today.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Good luck

I've got a toyota mechanic helping me tune er in....he says that it won't help me out any more....and when you turn the afm dial you turn it a tooth at a time........However I've been thinking that if I do turn the afm a little that that will help me bring my low throttle percentages down which will help me tune it in better....I know I need the dyno and probably some higher temp plugs

Yea I got er hooked up to the Vs wire, the write up I had said vc but I did my own trouble shooting and found it was the vs.....The biggest problem I am having is in decceleration...(sp?).....The car lunges as it slows down while in gear.....and the plugs are pretty saturated....I know it is getting too much fuel ......the toyota mechanic I talked to suggested that I start with high temp plugs and eventally an MSD system......I am pulling my hair out with the car right now....

I went a step cooler on my plugs.

I had the same symptoms. My plugs were black with soot (still are).

I tightened the AFM gear 10 teeth and it helped allot (Plugs are still black). It is still way rich though. When I get on the Dyno I am going to get it as close as I can with the AFM gear and then fine tune it with the SAFC. It has 2 settings it can store so I will do one DMV setting and one performance setting.

I think someone said Ray Fong ran his 6mgte with 295cc's and his AFM gear like almost a full turn tighter.

You are gona have to mess with the AFM gear bud. But get it on a dyno before you go past 10 teeth with your 295's.

Contrary to popular belief I think the car idles GREAT witht he 295's in. I was told that it would idle like crap. Maybe it will when I lean it out to where it needs to be but so far it is smooth.

o2

got a couple of questions?......I have both an af gauge and my safc reading my 02 sensor!!!.....What do your 02 readings look like....at WOT, mine read .7 volts, .7volts is generally lean but the car is running rich....any ideas

I will check again when I get home tonight but I believe my volt meter says .2-.3. I know I had to set it on the millivolt setting to get a reading so it may have been .02-.03. I will double check.

Remember that the O2 sensor will not read proberly untill it is properly warmed up.

Did you check to make sure all your plugs are black?

Also could be that being that we are running so rich we are fouling our O2 sensors.

Much better, much better

i turned the afm dial/wheel about ten teeth, and leaned out the injectors about 20 or so percent (it was at 50 across the board before) and she is running a whole lot better.....I went up to the parts store and tried to cross reference a 7mgte plug with a 5mge plug....with an emphasis based on plug heat.....I could not uncover anything so I went with some Bosch platinum plugs with the dual electrodes....so far so good....the densos that I pulled out were somewhat saturated but not as bad a my first set of plugs..............I think I might be getting somewhere with this bad boy.....Also in reference to the problem I was having with the af gauge not reading right along with the afc....after I ran it for a while it started running like it was suppose to,,,,I think that because the 02 sensor was rather saturated that it takes longer for the af gauge to read correctly.....I know I gotta get her to the dyno...............................

have not looked

still have not pulled out the plugs, went out and got an xbox, so ive been playing the hell out of that right now, she seems to be fine right now, still getting a little lunging upon de-acceleration....but nothing worth changing from what I can see.....I guess I have been over-reacting to this whole problem...I should have expected tuning to be the hardest part...I mean putting the puzzle back together was difficult.....but tuning it in has been rough.....I guess I should expect the difficulties when changing from na to a booster.....she'll be ready soon.....perfection takes time...thanks for your help.....need anything let us know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 8)
