mjaa, i'll get my money back for the new one if i want to sell, i get hold of them pretty cheap
good question, the trick is, if you want the 1j VVTI you need to get it from a JZX100 or atleast one with the etcs intake, NOT the etcs-i intake, that is the electric crap , JZX110 has the ETCS-I crap..
here is the intake you DONT want, pic borrowed from driftmotion ( this is driftmotions kit for making the TB mecahnical instead of electrical but then u need standalone... )

annnyways, got the engines! hopefully ill be able to swap in the new one through the weekend and start within a few weeks, installing a stock jz is soo easy for me instead of the computer shit i have on my jz now...

1JZ life

need to get a new rear ligth aswell, managed to smash one...

The EThrottles are a necessary evil if you want to play with 2jzs these days. The supply is almost 100% 2nd gen aristo now. They actually aren't entirely evil if you can get setup with an ecu that can control them. Eliminating the Idle valve, cruise control actuator and TRAC system is pretty nice, though if you have something old like a mk2, you probably don't care about that last one much, and many don't care about cruise either (getting the factory cruise actuator to work on a JZ actually isn't that hard either). That is certainly a plus of the 1jz, there actually are the vvti versions without the ethrottle.

But frankly, you are only putting off standalone. Any JZ motor is going to need it eventually if you keep developing it. Piggy back tuning methods kinda suck.

SUUPER STOKED!
i just drove this thing, migth not sound like much but, flipped a few switches and pushed a button, put it in first gear and drove out of the garage doors, turned arround and drove onto the lift, this feels so good after all those hours!!
need to used a few days under it, checking diff oil, making mounts for all the hoses and wires and tidying up everything a bit before i can do a test run in the driveway... sooo excited!! like, i'v had a 1j vvti in a MKII before but this is just .. different haha

got hold of some an4 brake lines and a few adapters and made it all work in a few hours, missing a last T for the rear so i just installed a bleeder in the handbrake and bleed it so atleast i have front brakes.
also got hold of a better flaring tool :D

i'v been lending my bride for my BMW missile car so kinda had to use a chair haha

vvti looks sooo good!

not quiet the look i wanted with the exhaust but i made it all in a few hours so so what, i can change it later, its a bit quiet rigth now but thats good for testing, too much ppl arround here for straigth pipes but my chaser road car is louder than this haha

Awesome!!

That first real drive always feels so good huh?

Hey, maybe you know, whats the point of the upper plenum on the 1jz vvti, the one the intake feeds into? We were discussing that in another thread (dude with the cressida wagon).

This...

DeathProof. Never accept a ride from this guy if thats the chair in his car lol

i dunno the real meaning of that plenum other than its removable with a grinder and a tig welder haha
its called J-pipe because it looks like a J and the purpose is the factory dump/resirc valve i guess, i like turbo flutter so i just remove it

with my very limited alu welding skills i managed to fab this up, this little thing is called a j-pipe delete, just a little tube between the turbo and the maf now , still keeping the factory pcv and idle controll :)

i testdrove the thing, and its having a little stutter and getting way to much fuel, i guess its in limp mode... probly have to hook up the check engine ligth and see if it throws any codes.. sounds like 2 step tho haha

also the its blowing smoke so i guess its time for another turbo, got hold of a refubushed and used turb for cheap

hate the stock turbo haha

chimming the wastegate hehe

days like this is the best

from my testdrive, i hit a cycling race when testdriving so had to take a brake in the woods haha

here you see the pesky cyclist

and added a wideband to see whats going on..

finally lift is ready so put it on the lift yesterday, will look at a sweaty fuel line and the thermostat house leaking a bit..

test ride video, could only have one video in one post, my poor brother joined for the ride without a seat, just hold on the the cage haha
as i say i need to hook up a check engine ligth, i think something is wrong with a sensor or something... cause this is limp mode and not the full "280" horses, my chaser same engine and with full interior pulls better haha

and after a testdrive i have to say that rear radiator is a dream come true! when im stationary the temp rises without a fan, but when i hit the fan i can see the needle going down, and have the temp sensor rigth after the engine so its not cheating to reading watertemp rigth after the radiator either, its sick!

From what part of norway are you?

Maybe you have a chance to get in contact with David Riiber from the Underground Garage?

He is quite experienced with the 2js and old toyotas in general, maybe He can help to sort the issues out and get parts?

I had all sorts of problems using the factory ecu (jzx100 auto). I wound up getting an apexi power fc and it solved all my problems.

yes i had auto ecu, could not got it to run rigth for the life of me...
finally got some motivation back.. this will run this summer!
im from the middle of norway and yes i know david haha

i need driving ligths to be able to get test plates for the road and to drive at tracks here, figured the fog ligths would be enough so i made a grill all the way across to ditch the ligths in the front, dont have space for them due to the fiber bumper.. looks stange but i think it will grow in me...
all fiberglass is now secured and adjusted ish, missing some adjustment to a fender and the hood only, all lexan is installed just missing the glue on the front screen, ill wait til its allll done under the dash before gluing

all electrics and ligths is also working now, park, turn and brake(running pedalbox so had to make a bracket for the stock switch) just missing to make some sort of windscreen wiper, thinking of a mono wiper..?

well, kinda ditched the stock setup haha

precicion 6266 and ID1000 injectors with haltech ecu, even fired rigth up :D ill get my serpentine belt this weekend and push it out to bleed the coolant and let it run for a bit hopefully
fabebd up a 3,5 stainless downpipe with some pie cuts, only migging tho..

black ic hoses are on their way

trd sticker

longest hood ever haha

hopefully ill get a video of it running this weekend, just got it running inside but cant let it stay running due to smell, garage is under my grandparents house

wooho, let it idle for about half and hour, no leaks, bleed the coolant, need to take the exhaust manifold off and change the gasket and weld up a tiny section i cant get to now ( i'v moved the wastegate on the manifold), then a few more small things and im ready for dyno!

well, fuck.. i got the manifold off mainly just to weld up some stuff and swap gasket to stock one but and i just want to change it.. its not good for flow.. look at this shit

had a much better one laying arround, had to swap on the T4 flange, quick job..

Re-thread and file it flat ish

ingore the text, only pic i had of the turbo mounted now, had to make new downpipe aswell since its in a new location

new downpipe, 3,5" stainless homemade bends hehe, looks meeeh flows good

and i got the wrong gaskets, faaak, non vvti.. time to do other things while waiting for new ones from russia

made batterybox, mounted the switchpanel, made seat mounts, mounted harness and bolted down the handbrake

welded inn zip tie hooks for the waterpipes aswell, all sturdy now

time for calipers in the rear, i want dual calipers for the handbrake.. i had a spare nissan rear suspension in the garden took off the calipers and lol, they had wooden pads hahah

i work with sandblasting but i got a small cabinet at home aswell, just took off the worst

and painted all the four rear calipers, now i need brake hoses and new pads, im broke for the moment so that will have to wait

random pic cause i cant walk by the supra now without looking atleast two times

sunrood delete, removable, i will paint it and then seam seal it

heat wrapping the coolantpipes since its close to the exhaust

how to not get itchy when heatwrapping haha

dad has been in the garage lately aswell, made from leftovers in the garage

Ah, well I see where you get your fondness for death traps from then lol.

Man you work quick, I wish I still had that kind of time for car projects.

Almost dyno time? More like almost time for new rear tires! You are going to have some traction issues there lol

haha not so quick all the time on the supra but i use all my time after work on my cars, just so anoying having so many...
finally, though i migth aswell delete the extra throttle body since its not for anywthing and its ugly

had one form a 1j non vvti laying arround, it has a hole for iat in it but that would hit the bonnet in the supra so iat is in the manifold

bit of fiddeling, had to offset the tps a bit, different tps system aswell, now im runing tps from 7age as i happen to have in the shop

painted sunroof

buuying ac delete bracket ? no just chop up the ac

forgot to take pic when finished but just chopping off everything that is not needed

better pic of new turbo possision and downpipe

245 semi slics on the rear, dont want to spin the tires on the dyno
