There aren't really many aftermarket cams out there. gude is about the most readily available out there, but most people complain about a major loss of driveability. There are the occasional Holy Grail HKS cams out there, but finding them in the hands of someone who is willing to part with them is about as likely as finding Elvis in a Burger King... Many people claim to have seren it...but never been confirmed :)

If your power goals are modest I'd run the stock cams and figure out how to get more boost outta the turbo. I would highly NOT recommend running the Gude cams on the factory EFI system. If you want cams I would go with custom ground cams with a stockish duration, higher lift, and little overlap.

Has anyone ever tried adjusting the stock cams to see if they make any difference on a 5/6mgte? maybe I'll try that next time I'm on the dyno. dont know when that'll be I have bigger fish to fry right now (rebuilding 4.30lsd)

what is the lift and duration of the cressida cams? i know they make more power for n/a but they may work well with a turbo. just a thought. i know most people go with lower lift longer duration cams for turbo.

Did the cams change at all in 85 when HP increased to 160? I know this has been asked, but I can't remember the answer, what about 7M cams? 6M cams?

I tinkered with using the 3 deg alignment holes (intake advanced and exhaust retarded) per suggestion by Bill Gentle at Redline Crank and Cam in Oregon and it seemed to have a bit more go but it gave the car a lopey idle that I didn't care for and so put it back to stock. Did not confirm seat o pants with dyno however.
