Hi guys,

Did a search on the forums but didnt come up with any info so sorry if this question has been asked before. Basicly, what are the differences between the turbo on the 3s-gte and the 7mgte? Just the exhaust housing? Would I be able to swap the exhaust housing from a 7mgte ct26 to the turbo from a 3s-gte motor?

Thanks!

YES, you can use that turbo. However, it does have a smaller compressor wheel. Not a terrible deal on a low boost application like yours.

Also, the exhaust housing is not the same, so a supra exhaust housing should be swapped on for a bolt on app.

In a worse case scenario, you can actually bolt the turbo to the manifold, and make a custom downpipe with the 6 bolt flange that the 3SGTE uses. That would be making things more difficult on yourself though.

actually it will...

manifold outlet / turbo inlet will be slightly mismatched but it does actually work... There is a silly supra guy that is running that turbo unchanged...

I would suggest at least port matching the 2 so that it flows better. One of the cool things about the 3SGTE twin entry exhaust housing is that it has twin wastegate ports for a higher overall wastegate flapper volume and those do not crack like ours...

Having a twin entry exhaust housing wil do no good if you do not have a manifold designed for it. Also, I do not believe the wastegate from either turbo will bolt up to the aforementioned frankenstiened ct26 without modding (because they use different wastegates with different mounting, and also the compressor housings are oriented differently). Also, as mentioned earlier, the compressor wheel is WAY smaller than the mk3 ct26. It's a waste of time messing with a 3sgte ct26 IMHO.

of course it wouldn't have the twin entry benefit, other than the dual wastegate flappers... but some people just have a 3SGTE CT26 dropped in their lap and want to use it...

the difference is size is .18" at the inlet , not a HUGE GIANT difference... cut the 3SGTE CT26 a little slack *sheesh* it would do the job in a pinch, although I would still suggest the supra exhaust housing on it for ease of installation

BTW the wastegate orientation is different, but 1 bolt will line up correctly allowing you to mount the wastegate... i know this because I installed a supra turbo in my 90 celica all trac (converting to twin entry housing)..

Youre a better man than me :p . I tried messing with the comp housing but could not seem to get it right (did the same thing on my all-trac). Ended up boring out the stock housing to fit the mk3 ct.

BTW, did you use the mk3 or the all-trac wastegate?

Inlet has little to do with overall ability, its the outer diameter that creates X-ammount of pressure at a certain flow. Take a measurement of that before deciding if it is a worth-while investment or not.

the first gen alltracs have the same outlet flange as the supra ct26. it is a single wastegate flapper like the supra as well. the twin entry didnt start till 90 i beleive(i could be wrong on the year) when the mr2 went turbo.
