EDIT/Not angry anymore/I'm much happier now, tension has eased
I'M SO PISSED, I HAVE A RADAR DETECTOR I REALIZED TODAY IS OUTDATED. I JUST GOT A TICKET IN A B/S SPEED TRAP THAT MY RADAR DETECTOR IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT.

But who knows, maybe the cop keeps his radar gun off till ready to shoot.
I do have that VG2 allert. But I think it sucks and NOW I REALLY WANT A RADAR JAMMAR. JUST A LITTLE DISFUNCTION IN THER STUPID GUNS WOULD GIVE ME PLENTY OF TIME TO SLOW DOWN. MY DAMN FUZZ BUSTER DIDN'T EVEN GO OFF TILL I WAS 40 YARDS PAST THE SPEED TRAP.

I have found 1 called www.radarjammers.com

But if any one knows of the best FUZZBUSTERS an RADAR JAMMARS please let me know.

They don't work. Keep your money and get a Valentine One. There is nothing you can do against Instant On radar but hope that a really good detector picks up the cop getting the guy in front of you.

Agreed.

Valentine One is probably the best out there. I've had mine for many years and have never gotten a ticket yet. It's a bulky thing that gives off some false alarms but otherwise works great. A worthy investment for $400.

I second that...I have a Valentine One and it's saved my @$$ on multiple occasions....ask anyone in the SoCalSupras caravan I led to Vegas last year how accurate that little box is. All three of my cars are wired for it....and I'm sure I'll need it more now that the 7M is running. :D

Is raderjammers.com the one with all the "Rocky Mountain Passive Jammers"? If so, what a joke. I have yet to read a review that didn't show they were useless (or even worse then useless; in one test, it actually increased the distance of the signature). Really, the only jammer I ever read on that worked was the Scorpion, at that was both serious $$$ and is probably illegal by now.

I've got a Passport 6500 that, in general, works. It is fine for spotting small town cops sitting speedtraps (since they keep their radars on all the time), but isn't all that great in general. OT here, I've noticed that it can actually pick up a slight x-band signal from a police car about 50 feet away, presumably from the electronics (or a radar run in passive mode). Not that this would save you from a ticket, but its an interesting tidbit.

Car and Driver, Road and Track and other car mags run compos every so often on radar detectors...the Valentine beats the Passport every time (the Passport is usually "the best of the rest"). The Valentine One also is more invisible to the cops than the rest. They will also update the firmware in your Valentine for free, as I recall, when new versions come out. NOT CHEAP, but worth it, in my humble opinion.

yea the cops do that here in the clearwater/largo, FL area all the time. they pose as city workers and sit inbetween baracades, or on bucket trucks, hell they even sometimes pose as "that old man on the side of the road on the backstreets in his lawn chair" it's crazy. that's almost like entrapment. but I've just learned to slow down....23 points on my liscence in the last 2 years and well if I get pulled over again I loose the liscence for a year. sucks bigtime.

ENTRAPMENT

That does sound like entrapment. Can they do that? We have allot of those unmarked cars here in CO. Thats what scares me out here. Allot of those new supercharged Grand Prix's theyre using that looks normal.

Also watch out for painted lines in the road. Usually on a highway. The cops around North and South Carolina have used a system (vascar?) where they time your car crossing point A and B, usually two white lines in the road. the system uses a simple fomula (time x distance = speed). They know the distance marked on the road and just have to time you crossing the two points to get your speed.

This is how I got my first ticket. While driving down the road my radar went nuts so I hit the brakes. A few seconds later I was pulled by a state trooper. What I did not realize was as I drove down the road and passed over a set of white lines (painted perpendicular to the stripes in the road). A trooper who was sitting on an overpass turned on his radar gun and zaped me. My radar only let me know I had been zaped it gave me no earlyer warning.

The painted lines method is used when overhead aircraft (small planes or helicopters) are timing you the distance between the 2 lines. This is when having a radar detector is not going to help ya.

VASCAR

Hey thanks for that tip there Roger :D Vascar? So thats what that technique is called. I heard about this form of detecting speeders being used by highway patrols. I think they might have other ways of using Vascar, like devices w/out the lines maybe?

In CO on our highways I believe I got cought from aircraft in the sky. Not sure if its planes or choppers, but they got me 94 in a 75 mph on I-25 coming from Denver into Castle Rock and no radar detection at all and I was in tons of traffic too. But I did have flashy wheels and think I must have been a target :x

Hey OPRON, a BCT-12 police scanner? I like how that sounds, track one w/in 3 miles?

Technically, legally not entrapment because they are not encouraging you to speed or break the law.

I have a Cobra 9860 10 Band Radar Detector, got it off ebay, and works great. Sure it only cost $70 shipped, and it also has a digital compass built in. I like it though its not the best, has voice alert and works good for me. I also recently bought a Uniden BCT-7 it is a police scanner, has the NOAA weather channels as well. It flashes a red light if there is a cop in a 3 mile radius who is using his radio. It works great, and with the radar detector too, I feel more safe. Even though I don't speed that often in the city, I usually speed in on the highway or country roads.

Cobra

Wow, I have a Cobra too. It was over a $100 at the time, the 9 band Radar/Laser Detector Model ESD-9200. It used to do a good job, especially on the highway. But lately I think we have to keep up now, like the BEE-ii thats undetectable?

But I think I like to get that UNIDEN BCT-7>12, any one know what those go for$$
