If you have kids and cars that you care about, invest in a steam cleaner. They aren't too expensive and are the only way Ive found to really clean upholstry.
If Les can't "borrow his back", I'll probably invest in one. Or maybe rent one?
I need to do the carpets, too. I guess waiting 'til it's warmer would also be a good idea so it has a chance to dry completely.
