On this 84 I'm restoring, there are a couple of small cracks in the dash between the defrost vents. I was thinking of trying one of those vinyl repair kits on them. I will respray the dash with SEM anyway because its also faded so color match is not a big concern, just pattern. Anybody every used one of these? Comments? Testimonials?

Phil forget about those vinyl repair kits. They don't work at the very least. There's cheap kits, professional kits, and professionals who the dealers use to do their work. NO NO NO on all 3 accounts. Even the best professionals jobs are sub-par. Color matching is very hard. Even if you spray paint over it. Vinyal repair kits just are not worth it. I've seen your cars. They are some of the nices restores I've ever seen. So judging by those. I can say you would never be happy. If you don't want to try and find a used dash. Get a dash cap. I got one in my 85 Celica GT. And unless I tell most people that it's a dash cap. Most people can not tell it's not the original dash. A dash cap will cost about $100. They can be painted to match your interior. They look like new. They will probly last longer than a vinyl dash (made of hard abs plastic). And they are easy to install. I'd go with a used dash or a dash cap.
