Two words..........tape measure. Pretty sure it's the same radiator though. The 960 came with a really futuristic, clean looking, inline six, putting out 220 hp. Volvo has a tendency to go overkill on their cooling, and ac systems as well. Be fore-warned. If you over-tighten the pressurized reservoir cap, it will crack. Weak plastic, not really designed to be super tight.
Well after digging around on partstrain.com it apprears that the 960 is an inch or two taller. Since this rad is going in a gen one cressida I decided to play it safe and go for the 940. I can't complain.... for cheaper than a new radiator I was able to get a used 940 radiator, external fill, hoses, switch, wires, and an electric radiator. I will attempt to post pics on Monday.
