yes, thats true norbie, but like dave said there isnt that big of a space when the valves are closed and the piston is at tdc. however, i only mentioned it due to all the websites showing how to make a home made system. if the nozzle is too large and too much pressure, it "could" happen, and id be surprised if it hasnt happend to someone already.

yes, you could spray the i/c with water as well, however i personally am going to set up a co2 system to chill the i/c.

NOS, and probably other nitrous companies, makes a nitrous intercooler sprayer system. You can see it mounted on my buddy duanes car here...

On high hp turbo cars this system has been known to add as much as 70rwhp. Duane hasn't dynoed with it yet, he'll be happy if he even sees 40 from it.

That being said, if the claims were true, we would have seen something like this installed in vehicles from the manufacturer already. In fact, with the way folks were in the early '80's, they would've experimented with that theory a lot!

My Uncle was a real old timer. He learnt on model Ts :!: He had a package of papers for a water carberator. It was supposed to increase fuel mileage by 50% or some such thing. These kits/instructions have been on sale in the back of Popular Science/Poular Mechanics for 50 years. The paper work said that the Big oil companys didnt want us to know about this. There are lots of stories around about High efficency engines that have had the patents bouight and buried by the Big Oil Companies to protect thier profits...Its a big Conspiracy :lol:

its pretty simple. i got a used fire ext. for $15 shipped off of ebay. i will buy a valve for it. then run a 4an line from where i mount the bottle to a nitrous solinoid in the front of the car, then run a line from the solinoid to the sprayer. the sprayer is nothing more then a hard brake line bent the shape you want it. then the 2 ends of the oval are fittied to a t fitting. you can use compressio nfittings or flare the ends like im goinf to do for a cleaner install. then you drill tiny holes about 1in apart all the way around. i havent decided on the size of the holes yet. they will be pretty small. then i will wire the sloinoid up to the cruis control power button since im scrapping the cruise control. it will spray the i/c with co2 when i hit that button. some people use n2o. but thats too expensive in my book. it cools the i/c so low its like haveing an i/c with 150% effeciency or more. it drops the intake charge dramatically in some cases. im going to use co2. the bottle i got was a lil bigger then a 2 liter bottle. im gonna mount it in the rear drivers quarter panel out of site. hehehe.

Yes I have seen these around...but we were talking about injecting the water into the intake pipe to feed the combustion chamber.

Check out www.speednosis.com to see what a CO2 system looks like. The system allows you to chill an air to air intercooler down to subzero temps. by utilizing the effects of cryogenic freezing from liquid CO2. Nifty idea, but I'm not sure I'd want a bottle with that much pressure stored in my car, especially during the Hot Summer months in Florida. William, I assume that you have all of the safety precautions figured out??? :?:

If he is using a standard fire extinguisher then it should handle a wide temperature range. Remember that race cars have fire control systems built in and cockpits can get very warm during a race.

well, the bottle shouldnt leak. most fire extinguishers use co2. anway, i am mounting it in the rear drivers side compartment where the jack is. im gonna lay some dynamat on the body so the bottle wont get the body cold and cause the paint to fade or chip or something. plus, if it leaks, it can get to the atmosphere through holes in the bottle of the quarter panel. i will pull the rubber plugs in the bottom.

Dave, the dangers of these systems are really minimal, and theres a few comercial ones out... NX put the first one out (they call it the N-tercooler, or something similar). Any source of CO2 will work. The one I am building I am using an NOS selenoid and firing switch to fire it, and am using a 20 oz bottle from a paintball gun for the CO2... MUCh cheaper to refill that way than a fire exstinguisher.

well, i am gona put a nitrous bottle valve on my extiguisher bottle. it shouldnt be very much at all to fill it. when i get the valve ill have it filled to see how much it costs. i will be runnign a -4an steel braided line from the bottle to a nitrous solinoid then a -4an steel braided line to the sprayer. all parts are available cheap if you know where to look.

i have heard of a system called aquatune that uses high frequency waves to cause some of the hydrogen in water to bacome a bubble, the hydrogen bubbles burn increasing you power , fuel effiency, response,etc, and the water mist should help to clean out carbon build up in your engine, but for the most part the water becomes steam because of the heat in the engine, thats why it cleans up carbon. i was thinking of testing it with a tornado, and see the fuel effinecy gains for my high way commute to work.

the theorys are sound and seem to have "proven" results on there sites but you can't always trust those, but i believe they should work.

I have 2 coments:

1. the tornados are junk there have been dyno tests that have proved that they actually reduce power on the mk2. If you read the fine print it says that it works in combo with a high flow air filter and the filter is the thing that is doing the work. But try it for yourself.

2. I have heard of more then a few stories of bottles under preasure having the caps blow off and the bottles turn into serious projectiles. If you are going to put one in the back of your car I would mount it verticle so if it does become a self powered torpoedo it wont hit any one in the car or even it blows the nozle off it wont become deadly. Nothing is worse then being that one person. On of the armories in Canada here had a boiler actually blow through the 3foot thick wall and bounce down the street and a lot of welders (used to be one) have seen bottles become airborn.
