I have an 83 p-type and there's two LED lights inside the tachometer, one is green and says below it ''norm'' and the other is red, and says ''power''
What does ECT do?
Ah, your 83 has an automatic, yes?
ECT is Electronically Conrolled Transmission. There should also be a switch on the console with a yellow/green side. The power setting raises the shift points to allow the engine to run further up into the powerband make the car accelerate better.
Ihth,
Jamie
Sounds like someone switched your gauge cluster. Does it have a 130mph speedo? If so they only came on 84-86 MkII. You might want to check for odometer fraud on your car. Someone could have done a 5spd swap on your car buy I'd imagine they would have left the switch in the console.
Yep. i got the 130mph speedo. there's a switch on the right side of the steering wheel assembly that was placed there before i got the car, that i don't know what it does.
the car says it only has 73k miles on it...
i don't have any reason to doubt it.....everything's real clean, there's no rust....no dents or anything.
yikes! regardless of cleanliness, someone could be trying to cover up some real no-nos. you should do a carfax and try to find some history on that car, even if you have to call the police about "fraud", it sucks, but I'd damn sure want to know what's up before putting lots of money into a "lemon" or something YOU could get in trouble for
Well, the man i bought the car from is a good friend iv'e known forever...he wouldn't fraud the odometer out. I know he wouldn't. i bought a civic from him with 233k miles on it, he knows milage doesn't matter to me. and we're good friends.
Maybe the guy before him had something to do with it.
I'll get the carfax report and let everyone know what's goin on.
-Thanks, josh.
