what is the gasket called which lays below the camshaft housings? i thought it was the valve cover gasket? and what about the very first gasket right below the engine cover? what is that called?

Below the camshaft covers-camshaft cover gaskets

are they the same as the "valve cover gaskets", thats what they are called on autopartsgiant.com, they are for $12.65, and it says that they come with grommets, whatever that means.
Nope the valve cover gaskets go right under the valve covers on the top of the cam towers i.e. the black covers on top of the cam towers that say Toyota, the rubber grommets go under the blots (like washers) to help seal/secure the valve covers.
Some car manufacturers do refer to them as "cam carrier" gaskets rather than cam tower gaskets. Try and stick with OE Toyota cam tower gaskets if you can. The thickness of the Fel-Pro gaskets could be different than the OE gaskets and that could/will foul up your valve timing. Although, Fel-Pro makes a very good quality product so the thickness could very well be the same.
I called toyota to replace the cam housing gaskets they told me $580 to do it anybody else get a price. I have done 2 of them it is long but $580 really
Sounds like a rip off to me. I changed mine in about 2 hours so I would imagine a Toyota mechanic could do it in about 1 hour. The gaskets were $17, they were fel-pro not toyota.
