i had a 81 supra as my first car. i learned to drive a stick on that car. if you ever seen the way the shifter bolts to the top of the trans its only held by a metal flanged piece. after slammin gears for awhile the shifter got so bad i could pull the shifter out of the trans and out the the console as i drove down the road.

another vehicle i had was a 75 international scout II. the gas pedal was a square tubular piece. after years of use eventually the piece broke into two separate pieces and made it so you could not drive it. it was my only car so i when to a hardware store and bought steel braided cable and a door handle like what you would use on a shed. i rigged it up as a hand throttle. the harder you pulled the cable the faster you went. it was hard you drive as you went down the highway 60mph. but it was a clever way to drive until i found the parts i needed to fit it.

Lets see pics of the 75 International!!

My beater was an 86 corolla, got it for $200 from the original owner, was only running on 3 cylinders. Otherwise great shape. Bought it figuring I could rally it for a week or two until it blew up. Ended up driving it for 8 months, wheeled the piss out of it. For a 3 cyl it ran tough and took some abuse haha

A douchebag in a Jeep eventually killed it by driving up on it without my permission while I was stuck waiting for my buddy to pull me out of a creek. Who knows how much longer it would have smashed if not for him ruining all my fun.

My first car was an 81 celica gt. Body was straight, Ran like a top. Kinda ugly. Cousin backed into it destroying the rear qaurter panel. I actually got more from the insurance company than I paid for it. Timing cover wore through one night on the way to work. Replaced and sold car for 500.
That frickin trunk latch wasn't too strong, More than a few times I blew the trunk open on the freeway. Had all sorts of insulation and pillows stuffed into the back to keep trunk from rattling. Fun car.

'73 Dodge Dart Swinger Slant 6. Faded/flat police car blue with the chrome caps and rings on steel wheels. Roach, but it ran like a champ!

Looked like this but with a black top and the non premium wheels.

I think the worst piece of junk I drove was a 1992 Dodge Monaco, basically a rebadged Eagle Premier. I found out afterwards it was voted #11 of the top 10 worst cars of all time.
But then again, I got it free from my older sister (after she paid $600 for a new paint because she felt bad about the paint coming off in huge 1 by 1 foot flakes!!!)
It lasted exactly 1 month before the transmission went out, of course while a friend borrowed it against my advice. (it was already slipping in gear.)
His bright idea was since it wouldn't go in forward he drove it off the free way in reverse till it stalled, then while he was pushing it it got away from him and rolled down a hill through 3 mailboxes, tearing off the the drivers mirror and putting a 2 foot long dent/gash in the 1 month old paint.
He was so freaked out by the whole incident he just hitched a ride away, leaving it in a random school parking lot w/o getting the address. It took 3 days of driving through the neighborhood to find it in order to get it towed.
I found out later the car had already had the transmission rebuilt once, it had 78,000 miles on it when it dies the SECOND time. The key to the car actually said RENAULT, and the trans was german, a ZF series and I got a quote of $3500 to REBUILD not replace it.

My first car was a 79 Ford Pinto. It was sold to the daughter of a friend of the family.

My second car was my 1984 Toyota Celica Supra that I bought new off the lot in March 1984. It's in my garage.

And your point is?

LOL.

Anyways, drove the 84 Supra until 1998, when I moved to the Ísland, where I had a GM Chevy Blazer to drive the glaciers. I left my Supra in a car lot where it was abused by hurricanes (and my 6-month visits on cheap-ass Air Valkilrya, no longer n service)

Then I bought a garage queen, 82 L-type, under 40K. With lots of rust, I'll be honest.

Then I was driving down the street and got flagged down, after I saw a Supra on a side street - it didn't run. Um, missing teeth on the timing belt was the least of it. The Phoenix car. 83P.

My first car, before my Supra, was my parent's '93 Plymouth Voyager Van. It was on it's last legs so they gave it to me to drive until it died.
But it WOULDN'T die. It just kept surviving. It was soooo embarrassing. It had been totaled once before; side-swiped in DT Portland, and the passenger side was all banged up. The automatic windows weren't automatic and I had to get out of the car when going to a drive-thru. And No A/C.

The day I got T-Boned in an intersection in that thing, was both a traumatic and triumphant day. It opened the door to finding my Supra, which so far was one of the best days of my life :)

1962 Dodge 1/2 ton truck. Wooden flatbed, slant six, 3 on the tree. PO had rolled it into a ditch, 1st gear would hold for all of 1.5 seconds before popping out, even with the passenger trying to help hold it in. Windshield was toast, hood came of driving to school one day, left it in a ditch so I could get to school.

I got more tickest in that Piece of shit. Last one ... Exhaust fell off 4 blocks from home. Local sherriff sees me, gets me literaly 1 block from the house. Just about get away with going home, his buddy shows up.

Officer #2 walks up, Mr. Pease, how are you today. Lets inspect this truck a bit, see if you have fixed everything we talked about 2 weeks ago .... Uhhmmm yeah, they knew me by name in those days.

Broken windshield, missing one wiper blade, exhaust laying on flatbed, tail light broken from previous night party, bald rear tires from doing donuts in HS parking lot, turn signal switch broken, horn dead ... you get the idea, truck was a freaking Pile.

$48 dollar "1981" defective equipment ticket. 1/2 hour lecture, and a threat to impound the truck, toss me in jail if they ever seen the truck on the road again. "yeah, I believed they could at that time - come to find out I was a naive kid". Went homw, pulled the engine, tossed it in a 68 dart 4 door, that had it's own -- Eco Sytem -- Moss growing on the inside, took 2 days to clean. Tree seeds had fallen in the freah air vents, had 6" tall tree growing outta the vents.

Brakes failed on the Dart 2 weeks later, coming home from school. To stop, nut had a 1/2 loop, uphill driveway. 1st gear as slow of a roll as possible, hit his driveway, hard left to not hit the house, slam it in park. Car stopped, buddy opend the door, took one step, and opened the door to his house. That P.O.S. was sold, and I seen it, as recently as 5-6 years ago, still running arroung the local area.

My first car was '91 corolla at 16. No A/C, both front windows couldn't roll down so would have to roll rears down before driving. Boy, that was a sauna. Shocks were dead so had rear wheel hop. But I drove everywhere, MN to NC, all over WI. Drove it till 250K then crashed it. Next POS was '88 civic. It ran good till something happen to the brake system. Had to double pump the brakes for it to work. I changed the master cylinder and bled but didn't solve it, no leaks. It got so bad I just gave it away. And last POS was '91 senta ser. It ran strong, good. But because I beat the crap out of it, and raced it, the front mount bolts kept breaking. Found out it was common. It got so bad that it eventually broke the tranny bolt holes on the front and side of the tranny. And ripped the lower portion of the rad support frame where the crossmember connects, and the motor dropped on the ground. Oh and the car was slammed. Gave up fixing that problem everything I ran it hard. Gave it away. These were when I was young and didn't really know much.

geeze. Up until recently, all I've ever driven was junk!

1979 Ford Mustang 6 cylinder was my first car. Paid 300 bucks for it. Tell you anything?
1980 Toyota Celica coupe. Loved that car. It's what got me into Supra's. Always wanted something similar but better.
1978 Honda Civic. What a pile of $hit.
1988 Honda Accord. Decent car but ugly as hell. Had almost a pink paint to it. It was called "Champagne Beige Metallic". Looked more like vomit.
1991 Honda Civic 3 door HB. Gutless turd. Dark maroon paint. Couldn't get out of it's own way.
1997 Suzuki Sidekick. Clunker, but clean. Reposessed MANY years ago... '01 maybe?
2002 Honda CRV (wife's DD). Absolutely hated that car. Ugly. Small. Felt like it was powered by mice on sterroids. Reposessed after the Sidekick back in '03. (bad times)
2003 Chevy Cavalier. Wife totaled that one. Bare bones stock. Nothing nice or fancy about it at all.

Now, I own.............

1955 Willys pickup. Ok. This one really is a POS. It's got no engine, tranny, interrior or anything like that. The body is rusting and the tires are flat.
1995 Nissan Maxima. Was my DD until last summer when I bought this.....
1985 Toyota Supra. Currently waiting for a Tranny swap.
2001 Chevy Tahoe. Hands down, the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. Big. Comfy, Powerful, Fits the whole family.

And, I hate to admit this on this forum... but the crème de la crème... the cream of the crop... the ELITE.....

my 1960 Chevy 4x4 Apache Pickup. I've restored this truck from the ground up over the last decade. It's more a part of me than my own flesh-and-blood children. (well, not really) And of course, to see it, see below. It's a hot link in my signature that will take you to CarDomain.

my first was an early 80's teal plymouth horizon, biggest turd ever and it looked like a frog. the speedo went to 80 or 85, but i could get it up to 90 going down the pocono mountains and the whole car would start shaking like it was going to fall apart. the steering wheel would shudder and that speed. prob not supposed to go that fast lol.

the master cyl ended up going out and i drove it for a little while like that with manual brakes before i finally got something else. by the time i got rid of it there was oil leaking from all over the engine and the tranny was giving out from doing neutral drops lol. i hated that car, but it was free so i couldn't turn it down when i was 16 heh. only good thing about it was the stereo i put in.

oh yeah, i forgot too that was the car i was in when a tree fell on me while driving. there was a tornadic storm that night and it was very violent winds, it blew down a huge hemlock tree practically right on top of me, it hit just a second before me and i drove right through it because the car was so small it went right under the truck and just through the branches. the tree was suspended just high enough for me to fit under it w/o taking the roof off. then as soon as i was though that one another fell directly infront again along with the power lines, so i was trapped between them. finally someone stopped to help me move one out of the way enough to drive around it. it only ended up denting the roof a bit and some other stuff, but i still got a nice insurance check for it which i kept. that part was nice.
