cool, looks pretty accurate to me. Hah, I knew those early mk3 wheels were heavy, 23 pounds! Ouch, I bet a decent set of 16 pound 16s on a stock mk3 could knock at least a 1/4 of second off their 0-60 :)

Actually 40 lbs is pretty damn light for a wheel and tire, especially on a factory wheel. I believe the 17" wheel and tire on the Solara are in the low 50lb range IIRC. Most of the bigger 16+" wheels and tires come in in the high 40lb range

I weighed my new Braid wheels a half a dozen times on my home scale. They weigh somewhere between 20-22 pounds.

Here's what mine weigh:

Azev Type A:
17 x 8, ~23 lbs (big heavies)

American Racing AR-205 (2-piece)
16 x 7, 17.6 lbs
16 x 8, 18 lbs
17 x 8, 18.7 lbs

Racing Hart C5 (3-piece)
17 x 8, ~18.5 lbs
17 x 9.5, ~19 lbs

The Azev and RH wheels were weighed on a shipping scale with 0.5-lb resolution. The ARs on a laboratory scale with 0.01 lb increments.
