If Toyota, along with coming out with the MKV, made like BMW and Ford and came out with a retro car. BMW has mini-cooper, Ford, the new tbird. If yota came out with a new MKII. The 2004 Toyota Mark II. Has nice 17" copies of our rims, 2jz, 6-speed, shorter shifter. Adjustable shocks, easier camber adjustment in the rear, more options for rims/shocks/etc. Pop-up HID's. Basically, all the stuff we wish we could do, stock. Wouldnt have to deal with rust issues... might be the best part! I dont know about you, but Id get one for sure. While it would never be as cool as the original, would be nice to have NEW ones out.

or they could be like ford and just come out with almost the exact same car! Of course the new GT is popular, line it up next to an original GT40 and its almost the exact same car

Actually toyota has a car called the Mark II. I think the new supra will be more like the original mk2 supra then the 3 or 4, mostly because it will be NA. Unfortuantly it likely won't have the right engine configuration :(

I'd rather see a remake of the 2000gt. That would rock!

Huh guys, don't you look in the mags? The next Supra is going to have a 2000 GT like nose on it (according to the spy shots). 8)

they would never do that. it's a staple of their history - how can they risk tarnishing it?
To do great things...one has to take great risks.
Totota took a great risk in introducing the 2000gt.... and Im sure if they were ever to come out with a new incarnation of the 2000gt they would take great care not to tarnish the 2000gt name.

Right now the next best thing to mk2 is IS300,
Inline-6
Same wheelbase
Same width
same height
BUT The Price! oh my $48'000 Cnd.
Too high!
For that price I would rather have 350Z $45'000 Cnd
Not that I could or have the means to even make that much!

I've thought this before... but along the lines of a reissue flared A6 celica with 3SGTE, bigger stock styled rims etc. Now THAT would be a new car I'd be interested in :humpleg:

And beat your reissue supra :D

It could be argued that the mk4 is a remake of the 2000gt. Like all supras it shares the same things that make them common, hatch, 2dr, i6, etc and IMO a mk4 looks alot more like a 2000gt then a mk3. And I think its the celica that looks like the mk4, at least the mid 90s ones. I belive those launched the same year as the mk4.

I saw that last night too - cool track footage and the car looks pretty interesting too. Looked like they were having a good time on that road course...and I agree, looks like a GREAT job to have. They weren't taking it easy on those cars at all, from what I could tell.
