For whoever buys this one, the drive back home through the Texas Hill Country is going to be fun. Back when these Supras were much newer cars, we'd meet up a group of ten or more and drive the Devil's Backbone. It's not all that scenic, least not compared to the Rocky Mountains or such, but we did it to drive the curvy roads (and you can't drive off a 1,000 foot cliff there). Lot less traffic back then, but maybe book a B&B in Wimberly, then get up early on a Sunday morning and go for a drive in your new mk2. And if your trip brings you back through Fort Worth, stop in. Order a new billboard decal tho. Don't know why that bothers me so much, but easy fix. GLWS.

Two things. There's some argument among classic car people whether a paint job means the car is now unoriginal, but here in Texas, because of the number of days a year we have full sun (and then as the sun sets, we get hail storms), we're a little more accepting of a full respray or even a top-side respray as just a normal part of car maintenance. You always should bring your paint meter, check any used car thoroughly, and ask probing questions about the shop and quality of the work done to it, but as long its at least as good a quality as it would have gotten if it were painted via an insurance claim, then I would have a hard time faulting it. And two, even in Texas, the 82-84 hatches rusted out like crazy (I've repaired a few myself) because it was just a poor window seal design that trapped leaf litter in the pinch-weld to stay damp for weeks after a hail storm. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was only the hatch that got replaced and repainted. And if your replacement hatch came with a sunshade, back to the first point and the tops of those back leather seats, all the better. As a fellow Texan, I think it could still qualify as "unmolested". Well it could just as soon as that decal is repositioned. ;)

Hopefully the seller will check back (or the buyer will chime in) as low-mileage examples don't come available very often and there's obviously a lot of curiosity around it.

The lack of a sunshade on the 84 with leather never made any sense to me either. Maybe it was a price thing? Maybe they thought the leather put it over some price target, the executives gathered around the conference table and discussed what they could do to make it cheaper than the 300z or something and somebody said, "lets delete the sunshade" and knock $30 off.
