Bosuzoku...It is a cultue of modifying a car that
involves things like fake oil coolers on the bumper, ?HUGE tall exhuasts
over exaggerated fender flares etc...
Also *for some reason* is known as "Yankee Styling"...go fig on that one...
great way for those a-holes to ruin "rare" cars...(not rare there, but here don;t get me started...)

zack_odom;TRD 83 SupraDrifter;
Great knowledge!
Are you guys Japanese?(joke!)
And those cars are rare here in Japan, too.
(most of the cars in Japan are late 90's or later models)
Wish they stop ruin rare cars...:sadsmilie
Most of the times, these cars can't get certification here in Japan and they modify too far that they can't reset to the original.
It means these rare cars go straight to the junkyard within two or less years...
I like some of their cars which are just lowered and with nice rims, but can't understand those hilarious cars...
Is it (soft) sold in US, too?

#7 ·
Hey Rosso I don't know if that stuff is sold here in the U.S. but I seen people make ridiculous wings out of cardboard, fiberglass, and wood. And also seen body kits made of that stuff too. lol

Thanks for many information:D
I checked this out and found...it's just usual "car race" game,
not kind of game like "driving simulator", just "crazy driving racing game".
But the way characters in the game talk and lot other stuffs are something "Bosozoku" style...hard to explain without using Japanese....

You really know how Bosozoku drive!
And guy in passenger seat SIT ON THE DOOR hanging out and swings bat, pipes or wooden katana!:zzzzz: :duh:

No rosso I am not Japanese, but I have lived with several
Japanese exchange students, and my Unlce lives in Iwata, in the Shizuoka Prefecture....
near this vending machine...

that is a fantastic example of the wonderful "Engrish" that I saw when I went over there. I love Japan so much.

Anyways, about the game, if it ever did come to america, it would flop horribly. Rarely does a Japan only game come over here and succeed. Last one I can think of was Katamari Damacy, and that's only because it can't even be put into a genre (a wonderful thing sometimes).

Well, interesting find Alex.

Rosso... correct me if I am wrong... aren't the Bosuzoku a gang in Japan? I was stationed in Iwakuni and we had a run in with some people up in Hiroshima, dressed very wildly (red hair, purple leather) and rifding on Motorcycles. One friend ended up getting stabbed by them and the rest of us got pretty banged up (there was like 10 of them to 3 of us), and I thought the Koban's told us they were called Bosuzoku.

Wow!
Your uncle lives in Shizuoka!
It's really good place:)
Tell me if you have chance to come Japan, see your uncle;)

I can understand this game won't success in sale:)
It's not popular game soft in Japan, too.
This is one of "Cheap, Easy, Instant fun" game series called "Simple200".
I'm amazed that "Katamari Damacy" is in US!
I don't have many knowledge on games except "GT series" and "Armored Core", but saw Katamari Damacy in TV commercial and thought it's must be fun!

Rosso:
Sidetracking back to the video-games (kinda my niche anyways), Katamari Damacy was a humongous hit when it came out (#3 on the top 10 games of the year and I believe it won the best soundtrack too).

Gran Turismo is also very big, but I was very happy when you mentioned Armored Core. I own every single Armored Core game (except for the new AC4, due to no next-gen console yet), even the Japanese Armored Core: Formula Front on the PSP because I didn't want to wait for it to come out in America. If FROM SOFTWARE would hire gaijin, then I would be getting their attention in a year or so to hire me, but they only hire Japanese.

Thank you for mentioning Armored Core, it made my day!

Yes, Bosozoku is young delinquent gang.
Most of the time, Bosozoku quit Bosozoku when they get 20 years old.
But now, time have changed, there're some people driving Bosozoku style car who's not Bosozoku at all or not young any more.
But before 90's or so, driving and riding Bosozoku style wasn't easy because it will end up beaten up really badly unless you are the member of Bosozoku group.
Even we had to be strong on fight those days to drive street racing style cars because these kids tried bang up street racers who is around same age with them some time.
And, there were many fights between those groups.
Time changed and Bosozoku is something not cool for youg delinquent any more.
Now, American DUB styles and VIP style (lowering lexus or Infinity sedan with big aeros and big chrome wheel) are something cool for them.
Now, most of the time, Bosozoku style is considered as "country boy".
And now young delinquent don't fight easily like before, so people who's not delinquent or bad guy can drive VIP style car or even Bosozoku style car safely.

But we still have some Bosozoku group who gangs, specially out of the Tokyo so be aware is the best even you are strong in fight:)
And Bosozoku group start to mixed with VIP and other cars.
They fight when they saw another "group of young people which looks easy to beat up (like few number of people)" , specialy when another group looks cooler than them or payed attention from others than them for any reason.
And some times jacks a man who don't looks strong.

It's little funny, now, there're some "middle aged people" who used to belong Bosozoku or had desire to be Bosozoku (but never involved) start driving old hilarious Bosozoku style cars and motorcycle.
They don't fight, they don't gather and drive in mid night.
They work as normal people do, on holiday they go to some meeting, like we do in Celica XX Club or Celicasupra.com, ofcourse without fight or ganging.
Difference with us is... they drive really loud reving the engine with stepping on clutch or gear in neautral!

Little hard to explain in English for me, wish I'm telling you correctly.
I'm sorry to hear you had banged from them, shame as Japanese...

#18 ·
Not even close. Think of a Biker gang vs. the Mafia.

Rosso. No shame on your people at all. Everyone is young and stupid at some point, and then we grow out of it. I have much respect for your peoples and thier friendliness and courtesy they showed me while there. You should be proud :)

#21 ·
They remind me after watching that first clip of biker gangs here like the hells angels. drink fight and ride.

#22 ·
Satoshi,

Thanks for the info on the Bosozoku culture/gangs. More stuff I did not know about.

#25 ·
Hey Mone I'm a big fan of Armored Core, I have all the games except AC2, and the new one that came out on the PS3, I also don't have that one that came out on the PS2 awhile back ago Armored Core-Last Raven.

I can't believe your a fan.

#27 ·
Exactly! Bosozoku culture start out copying James Dean!
That one of the reason they are called "Yankee".
But adding Japanese culture and end up with wierd culture as Bosozoku.
Some of them Graduate (They call quiting Bosozoku around 20 years old "GRADUATE".) Bosozoku and become member of Yakuza.
May be little similar to Hells Angels, but I think Hells Angels are lot cooler.
I likes some of, just few of the parts about Bosozoku, but extreme body kit made out from wood, stupid way of driving, and some of them can't fight alone without their group, NO WAY!
BTW, I like "Akira" animation, I think it's cool!
Drifting and / or street racing are completely different from Bosozoku now.
Good find on Youtube, it's explaining most!

Back to the topic, game.
I'm so happy to hear some of you know and really likes Armored Core:)
I really love this game, it's the best!
It's fun to play ofcourse but also fun to make own robot with original coloring and emblem!
(I made "XX" emblem on some of the robots:))
I used to play them with my friends, and it was interesting that we all have different opinion to make robot.
My friend likes heavy and strong one with few ammo but deadly weapons, I likes little more faster and pretty more amount of ammo.
I don't have newest one, too because I don't have PS3.

Man....I sure hope that clown car trend dont pick up here. I may have to dig my cape and cowl out and go back to being a vigilante! lol JK. As for the coolest game on earth, Armored Core, I have all of them as well...sep for the PS3 one. I wont have a PS3 for prolly a few years.

#31 ·
Sweet, I have all except, armor core 2, armor core raven I think its called, it came out last year on the ps2.

Too bad I won't have a ps3, for a long time to come, unless somehow the raptor racing header loses my interest.
