My long term project has been 7MGTE into my 84 Celica XX, Its going well sofar however im scratching my head on the best intercooler setup to use, I don't have the factory 7M setup and I don't want it. Celica Supras are certainly not the easiest cars to fit a big front mount intercooler to and I'm having issues of where to run my piping in tidy manner.
Now im thinking WATER TO AIR intercooling as an option, this has been proven to be a more efficient method and i like the idea of running 3/4" hose to the front rather than 2.5" savagery, there seems to be plenty of room on top or the cam covers for a cooler so why not use it?. The engine is somewhat modified with T4 compressor wheel hopefully providing more flow than factory, so id need a big enough cooler to cope. The question is... has anyone done this on an M series turbo setup before and with what results in the performance/price and ease factors ??
