hey i'm new to the supra forum and have done a fair amount of research on this swap. The thing i'm confused about is, will i have to make custom motor mounts to swap into my 84 supra. some people are saying yes, and some are saying its a direct swap, but i haven't heard from someone who's actually done this swap. Reason why i'm swapping is because my 5m went to shit after sitting for 10 years. (has a rod knock) i've had the 1G-GTE sitting in my rx7 for quite some time and it only has 40k miles. Instead of rebuilding the 5m i plan on swapping. I have every part that comes with the motor and tranny, just curious about engine mounts. thanks for your feed back.

OK,who posted that you(he) can use 5M mounts?
Worry about the oil pan,more.
Dip stick and oil filter location. That's what I hear, all of the time.Maybe that's the 2JZ motor.....

Right here,on this channel.

Look up some more info,please.

Honestly no idea what the parts required are, but wasn't that an option for our chassis in japan in the celica xx? Might be worth using that as a search term to see what engine mount part numbers are required. I know there is also a japanese celica xx group that is fairly active, not sure if anyone speaks good enough english to help you but it is worth a shot.

Most XXs came with 1gges. You will need their engine mounts or custom I'm sure. Possibly their pan's too if yours isn't front sump (which it probably isn't as 1ggtes are probably most often sourced from jdm mk3 supras, which require midsump).

Cool motors. Good luck getting parts for them.
