Hi, i am new here, and i just bought a celica. I mainly bought it because it is RWD and i wanted to slide corners for starters. I been reading around here a bit. Is there anything special about it? My good friend has a 85 supra p-type. I have a few questions.

Any good cheap LSD for the gt-s?
Good drop in cheap motor swaps?
(I heard of the 3gt-e motor?)
Any good websites/forums just for gt-s's?
Good DIY websites for this platform?

Thanks all in advance.

well, there's no real cheap lsd for these cars

good drop in motor swaps, you're looking at the m series engines from the supras, or the 4ag(z)e, the 3t-gte you speak of is not easy to find, as it was a japan only engine

a 3rd gen celica based forum is here - http://www.celica-gts.com/forums/index.php?

sure theres a cheap lsd, the mk2 supra pumpkin should bolt right in. You may need the axels as well, not sure. However you will not be able to get the same gear ratio your celica has. Your celicas is a 3.42, and most supras are 4.1 or 4.3. 82s had 3.72s but they're hard to find. The celica is definatly a cool little car, but you'll find it pretty underpowered for drifting in stock form. Bought an 84 myself earlier this year, wicked commuter cars for supra guys.

umm $350 for a Tru-Trac is pretty damn cheap for an LSD. LSD upgrades for most cars cost around $700. Your car may already be LSD, check the build plate on the firewall against the decoder on the celicasupra.com website.

hi there and thanks for the info. I went to go pick up my car today and it' couldn't drive... every time i put it into gear it would make a loud banging sound from the back end... i am thinking that it might be the axles or the rear end...

so are you saying that some gt-s's came with stock lsd? if so, that would be very cool. where can i find that information. I know i helped my friend with the p-type find out his, is it the same on the celica ( i assume ) what letter of the build plate should i check...

i will have to open up the rear differential housing and see if the diff is fubared...
